Tell Me About Your Experiences and Say Hello

From the lens Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - Resources for Living with MS and Staying Well.

MS is such a personal experience and I don't know many people who are not touched by it in some way or another -- either they have MS, someone they love has MS or they have just recently become aware of the disease for some reason or another. Anyway, you are here -- reading this lens.

I want to let you know that I appreciate all the comments that come through. All I ask is that you don't post any links here. Just say hello and share your experience. Also, I'm sending a positive thought your way. I promise. ;-)

One of my dearest friends was diagnosed with MS about 12 years ago. She has been an inspiration to me with her positive attitude and her joyous outlook on life. She has added a lot of natural vitamins and herbs into her daily routine as well as the injections that she takes and that seems to help her quite a bit. Thank you for such a comprehensive lens on a subject that many of us know little about.

Thank you so much for this site! I am currently in the "diagnosis" stage, so it hasn't been diagnosed as MS, yet. I was totally unaware that the symptoms i have been experiencing could possibly be MS. An eye exam after a car accident presented some questions(double vision) and i was sent to a neurologist, the next test they want to do is an lumbar puncture. the MRA showed 3 areas of ? brain inflammation? A series of blood tests showed my B12 was nonexistent. If anyone could enlighten me about what that means, in simple language, that would be appreciated. Again, thank you so much for posting this site, it has helped in so many ways to allow me to understand some of my symptoms and possible causes. God Bless All.

This is a great lens. I added it to my favorites. It is actually my first night on Squidoo, and i am trying to document my experience since I just learned that I may have MS. Well, I most likely do, but I am just waiting on the second attack or second lesion for the official diagnosis. I was very lucky that my optic neuritis was so bad in my first attack. They were able to catch it early, so I can start on the meds soon.

Several years ago a close friend found out she had MS which was devastating as you well know. She is an artist and had to give up her stall in the Pike Place Market which she had for more than 20 years. She soon was also suffering with severe Depression and has not been the same person since. Your lens and your story are truly inspiring and gives hope to those who otherwise would not have any. 5 stars and a Favorite. Take Care and God Bless.

A great lens on MS. For those of you reading this in the UK (and probably the US) who have received a diagnosis, check your life insurance policies to see if you are covered. If your policy has a 'critical/serious illness' rider or if you are paying an income protection plan (formerly known as permanent health insurance or PHI) then you might have a valid claim. I do occasionally come across people who haven't claimed because they didn't realise they were covered...

I knew a woman many years ago that began having symptoms like dropping her fork, spoon, pencil. etc.., while a junior in high school, and bedridden by 24.

Though I haven't seen her in over twenty years, I talk about her and her amazing outlook like I had seen her yesterday. You remind me of her.

You have a lot of info here. I will bookmark this site for sure.

Wow, what a comprehenive Squidoo! A very dear relative has gracefully lived with MS for almost twenty years - many of those years included inefficient internet searches for info. I am so glad to have found you - the areas of ife and health that you cover are amazing. Thank you and God bless you!
  • beadgirl Aug 21, 2007 @ 6:51 am | delete
This is an amazing lens. I was really impressed with all the resources. I had just recommended that Squid add an MS related charity to their list, and your lens caught my eye.
My brother in law has MS, so this charity is near and dear to my heart. Hopefully we can write our way to a cure!

Awesome lens that you've put together here. I can probably learn more about my own MS from here that I can from my "not overly communicative" neurologist! Actually, I run an MS blog myself and I try to stay on top of happenings. You are now bookmarked as one of my favorite MS sites!

MS is a dreadful, debilitating disease...I had a lady friend, a TV director, who became a cripple and then died from it in the late 1980s.

My lady now has it...but has virtually no symptoms expressing, except on very humid days.

    Great page, terrible, terrible disease.
