Magic 101
Magic is the first collectible role playing card game created by Richard Garfield as a substitute to boardgames. The game can be played by two or more players that promotes them to play coordination that would somehow enchance their creativity and Intellectual skills while fomulating and playing their deck. With all the benefits given I believe magic is not only a hobby but an exercise in sharpening your mind in making decisions that would somehow be put in use in the near future.

Shards of Alara Pre Release
Game Recap and Official Standing during Shards of Alara Prerelease in Davao City
Last Sunday, I was able to join the Pre release Tournament : Shards of Alara. The event was the most successful Mtg Event in Davao ever :) with 33 registered players. Shards was a little bit hard in constructing a deck since some of the cards require 3 colors mana.. we need to balance our deck and enough mana fixers in order for the deck to work .. It took me more than the time aloted to construct my deck.. Thanks to my cousin .. for helping me re evaluate my deck .. :)Round1
1st Game
I chose to draw first and got 1 Wild nacalt in hand ,1 lush growth, 2 forest, 1 mountain, 1 artifact that produces 3 color mana 2 rip clan crasher ... First turn: I played a forest and cast Wild nacalt and the opponent played his first land, Second Turn : I played another forest and cast lush growth to make the Wild nacalt 3/3 and swing it .. In my opponent 's turn .. he played another land .. 3rd Turn: I was able to cast 1 rip clan crasher and continue attacking while he got no creatures.. and on 4th turn : another rip clan is on board and he still got no creatures in play .. i was able to keep on waving without any problem .. 2nd Game: My Opponent chose to Play first and still lucky enough to get another Nacalt but with 2 Naya Charm ... got really lucky ... during the first round and finish it early by tapping all his creatures in my last wave that gave me the win in the first round
Standing 1-0
Second Round: Battle of the Long Hairs Vs Short Hairs
When we role the dice .. for who comes first the dice hit my fingers and make it in favor to my opponent .. This round was really the most difficult because i tried to take control of board with just an unblockble creature .. got lucky he dont have any burn spell during the first game .. and during the second game he was able to put his saproling maker mage .. into board as early as turn 3 and was able to produce enough sapro to finish to force a game 3 ... in game 3 I was able to damage him early and finish the game with the cycling burn spell :)
Standing 2-0
Short hair prevails ....
3rd game: battle of the undefeated
Game 1 Got a an early rally attacks and trim down his life to 10 by end of turn 5 .. but he was able to make a come back .. in the last turn he was down to 7 and in hand got a cycling card that can deal as much as 6 damage to target creature or player and i was hoping he will not block my 2/2 first strike creature ... but he decided to block it and .. he swings the big creature.. In game 2 he started to play his key creatures during the first 4 turns and freely swing attacks for 3 turns .. but was able recover to comeback but his Big Creature is back and freely casted it .. I tried to destroy it during the 7th turn but he got some instants to increase its life.. on board and still finishes me with two swings of his Feral hydra.:(
Standing 2-1
4th Match: Battle of the Titans - Vs Peter Ang
Game 1 ended fast with the lush growth and Wild nacalt combo and the 2 rip clan crasher during turn 4 .. it was a fast game indeed ... Game2: I wasn't able to get enough lands to cast some of my vanilla creatures .. :) he waves all his small but terrible creatures and forces a game 3: A lesson learned ... (" Greed will imprison as all" - Rush Hour 1) I fetch a land the I rarely needed without thinking that i needed a forest card to fix all the problem .. Ouch .. another heartbreaking lost...
My standing (2-2) I finished 16th overall.

Turn 2 : Meadowgrain
Turn 3 : Kitchen Finks / Aven Riftwatcher

Post Pre release Eventide Tournament @ NCCC Mall
After the Pre Release Tournament @ NCCC Mall last Saturday (July 12, 2008)with a humiliating 1-3 standing I was able to reflect and learn something in the event.1. Magic is like a Math Subject.. we need to practice, practice, practice to enhance your skills.
2. Stay focus and try to evaluate which color / colors to pick in the card pool given.
3. Read and understand the cards you pick to play.. to avoid ending with a wrong card.
4. Lastly, Try to relax and enjoy the game.
Release party is coming soon .. good luck guys
How To Make Money With Magic
1. Choose your color .. (White, Black, Red, Green, Blue) Choose one or two colors that you are comfortable to play with (construct a deck)2. Release or Sell all the card that does not belong to your chosen color.
3. Post all the cards that you are willing to release or sell .. to some auction sites (e.g.Ebay)
Benefits:
- The cards that doesn't belong to your chosen color/s will help you gain money.
- It would be easier for you to find great cards since you are only focusing on the one or two colors.
- In this way you'll be able to help other players and at the same time gain money by selling the cards to that particular person.
- Focusing you're aim to the color/s chosen will be easier to create a competitive deck since you narrow down the option to the colors.
To help you determine your Color ..

Tribal Wars - Yehey
*The event will run as a league, with players challenging each other and keeping records of how they go.
*This event is all about players giving their favorite tribe a bit of a run, trying out the tribal mechanics and finally answering the age old question "Can a Tree REALLY beat a Giant?
*These events are unsanctioned so it's great opportunity to bring newer players into the game. To help with this we will sending all participating stores 10 classical tribal promo card (Elvish Lyrist).
*The first four players who bring in a NEW player to a participating Tribal Wars store during the day of the event will each receive a classical tribal promo card. Both the new player and the player who invited the new player will receive.
*The other two cards will be given to the two players who have the best record at the end of your event. But mostly this event is all about participation not achievement.
*It is also a great opportunity to get some sealed deck specialists to try their hands at a constructed format in a very relaxed, fun environment.
TRIBAL RULES
* Choose a Lorwyn tribe: Elves, Elementals, Faeries, Giants, Goblins, Kithkin, Merfolk, or Treefolk.
* Only use Standard legal sets: Tenth Edition, Coldsnap, Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, Lorwyn and Morningtide.
* At least one-third of the cards in your Tribal deck must have the creature type of your chosen tribe (For example, a sixty-card Elf deck must have at least twenty cards with the Elf creature type.)
* Tribal Instant / Sorcery / Enchantment cards and cards with changeling count toward your total.
* You may build more than one deck and represent more than one tribe.
* There is NO sideboarding in this format.

Lorwyn Cycle Book 1
The Magic of November 5, 2007
My cousin purchased the book last Week and read it the whole weekend .. He now lends me the book (yes its my turn to read the book) he told me some spoilers about the story .(ouch i hate spoilers) but we cant stop others to keep on spoiling specially if the story youre reading is so interesting. .. So alloted some of my time last night in reading the novel and finished chapter 1. It was really an interesting start but need to have a sleep coz i need wake up early to finish my week's task as early as possible.. FNM Tournament October 28
FNM and ME
I wasn't able to reach the top 3 spots but still it was a good experience because with my participation in the tournament i was able to evaluate my deck's lacking piece, effectiveness and its Level of competitiveness and was able to know some of the top players in Davao City. After the activity I realized that magic is not only about the competition between the cards and minds but it also enable you to be connected with interesting people of the community we are living in.
