My life with Migraines

I have migraine headaches, it stinks but I have to live with it. I take medicine for my migraines but sometimes it can really stop me from doing a lot. My advice is to catch a headache quickly! Right when it starts, I don't always want to but I have found out that even though I might not want to take pain medicine it is worth it! It is always good to catch a headache before it gets really bad. But if you don't want to take medicine another way to help relieve the pain is ice packs.

Slurpees!!!

Slurpees are very helpful! When I have a bad headache a lot of the time that's how I get rid of them. Using slurpees sometimes a brain freeze can counter act the migraine and get rid of it.

Irritation

Sometimes when I have a headache every little things gets me like music playing or a ringtone makes me feel horrible. Even footsteps walking down the hall. It can feel like pounding on my head! Thankfully my family is really nice about it because when I have a headache they are really quiet for me.

Headache Yesterday

Yesterday I had a terrible headache. At first I got an "aura" I started feeling dizzy and then I got a horrible headache. I was in tears my family was really nice helping me get rid of it. I woke up a bunch of times in the middle of the night and took medicine, I used ice packs but nothing seemed to help! Finally this morning my headache was gone I was so thankful. That is just one of the times I have had horrible migraines.

Ice packs are good but these ice bags are wonderful. They mold to your head and it is a great pain reliever

Using Ice packs is very effective. Some of my headaches come from neck pain that I have so the ice pack helps with that too.

I get migraines an average of twice per month. I've found that if I can get really, really hot salted French fries and eat them with ketchup and an ice cold Dr. Pepper, I can usually downgrade the level of severity. I haven't a clue as to what chemicals/vitamins/etc are comboed in the foods, but it works for me. Using a Nasopure system also works well for sinus migraines to relieve the congestion.

The next time my partner gets a migraine, I'm going to rush out and buy her a Slurpee. Never heard of that, but it sure sounds like a great way to deal with a migraine.

I've only had one migraine in my life and hope never to repeat it. I'm so sorry you have to experience this. :(

I completely agree with the "Slurpee" treatment and tell everyone who suffers with migranes.

The fact is that a migrane is actually caused by the "dialation"..NOT "constriction of subcutaneous blood vessels in the scalp.

This is why physicians prescribe "vasoconstrictors" such as Imitrex or Zomig for treatment of symptoms.

A slurpee drank not only quickly but one that is also aimed at the back part of your upper palate...will ensure your standard "brain-freeze"..which is actually a symptom of your blood-vessels constricting. (pretty painful for 1-2 minutes but well worth it.)

The other option is to consume (if possible) pretty spicy (chilli /capstain-based meal) which again has the effect of constricting arteries...this is presently being explored as a subcutaneous and topical / nasal spray (god help us) treatment, by migrane research centres.
    Good luck.....
