Common Questions in Mabinogi

Here you'll find the answers to frequently asked questions about the popular free MMORPG Mabinogi, like how to get free Giant and Elf characters for your account, and easy ways to level life skills or professions.

Mabinogi has several versions worldwide; I play the North American version and that's what information on this page is based on.

If you're asking yourself "what is Mabinogi?" please check out: Mabinogi.

How Can I Get a Free Giant or Elf Character Card?

To get a free Giant character card:
- You must not be allied with the Elves. If you already did, break it.
- Talk to Krug, the King of the Giants, in Vales, to get the Giant keyword, if you don't already have it.
- Talk to Krug using the alliance keyword.
- Accept the Alliance.

To get a free Elf character card:
- You must not be allied with the Giants. If you already did, break it.
- Talk to Castanea, the Elven Chief of Filia, to get the alliance keyword.
- Talk to her again using the keyword.
- Accept the Alliance.

Restrictions:
Only ONE free Giant card and ONE free Elf card will be given per account. If you delete the Giant and Elf Characters you made using the cards, you cannot get another card and you don't get your free card back.

Yes, you can keep the card even if you break the alliance later.
To break an alliance, talk to the same leader you allied with.

To get to the continent of Iria, use the continent warp option on the menu. It's a long walk to Vales or Filia, but if you keep moving there shouldn't be much problem. Mabinogi World Wiki has a good map of the continent.

If I delete my free starting character do I get the card back?

If you don't have any other characters, you will get your free character card back after you delete the character you created on it. If you do have other characters, you won't get the card back until you have no other characters.

The card will only reappear after the reset at 7am PST the next day.

Can I Rebirth My Premium Character Using A Basic Card?

You can, and you can still keep your premium look as long as you do not select the option to change your character's appearance. If you select the option to change your character's appearance you will be restricted to the basic choices.

Can I Rebirth For Free?

Human, Giant, and Elf characters, as of Pioneers of Iria, can rebirth for free at age 20 (or older).

To do this, just choose the rebirth option in the character selection screen.

Free rebirth does not allow you to change appearance or gender, and you will not get the free dye amp gift from the NPC in the tutorial area.

How Can I Open My Own Player Shop?

To run a player shop in Mabinogi, you need the extended storage service, and an item bag.

Extended storage service can be bought from the cash shop. Item bags can purchased from the in-game general stores and come in different sizes; the larger they are, the more expensive.

When you're ready to set up, buy a license at the bank in the town you want to set up shop in. Note that licenses are one use, but this doesn't kick in until you've made a sale. If you sell anything, do NOT close or try to move your shop, or you'll have to buy another license before you can open it again.

To turn in your shop license to get the money for what you sold, deposit it in your bank, same as you would a check or any item you wanted to store.

My Pet Ran Out of Time! Will I Ever Get It Back?

Pets and mounts in Mabinogi are yours forever after you buy them. The timer is because they have a set amount of time they can be out each day. This timer will reset at 7am PST, and you will be able to summon your pet again.

Where Can I Get A Pet Or Mount?

All pets and mounts come from the Mabinogi cash shop, which means they take real world money to obtain. See the pet section of my Mabinogi overview for more info and a link to where you can view the available pets and mounts and their prices.

Where's Fleta?

Fleta is a wandering NPC with a shop. She walks around Sen Mag Plateau, at or near the crossroads, and only appears from 9am-11am, 3pm-5pm, and 7pm-9pm.

How Do I Put The Hood Down On My Robe?

"E" button will toggle your hood up or down.

Are There Cheap And Easy Ways To Level Professions?

Part time jobs!

For Tailoring and Weaving, take the jobs offered by general stores and clothing shops. Tir Chonail and Dunbarton are especially useful for this, with lots of chances they'll ask you to tailor or weave. They provide the materials, so it's not only free, you're being paid to increase your levels. Be sure to use up any leftover materials for extra experience.

For Refining, take Elen's part time jobs in Bangor.

For Cooking, take the beginner part time jobs from the Grocery Store in Emain Macha. He asks for apple juice and orange juice.

Gathering materials jobs raise your Production; you'll see a lot of gathering jobs from the Healers and Churches.

Where Can I Find Cooking Tools?

The General Shop owner in Dunbarton sells cooking tools. They're all together under the cooking tab. This tab can be hard to find; there's a button to scroll to the side to see more tabs that many miss.

Where Can I Find An Apple Tree?

There are a few apple trees around the outer edges of Dunbarton, particularly near the road. Some are growing in the road that leads south.

Getting Married in Mabinogi

You can get married by speaking to the Wedding Usher at the Cathedral. For humans, this is in Emain Macha. For Giants, it's at Vales. For Elves, it's in Filia.

After you select "Get Married" and enter your partner's name, a message will be sent to them with your proposal. If they accept, you're engaged.
The usher will charge 5,000g.
You'll get an engagement ring.
You must get married within a week, or you'll have to start over.

You can purchase wedding invitations if you wish; your guests will need these in order to attend.
Gather at the cathedral when you're ready.
You'll need another 25,000g as a ceremonial fee.
For 18,000g more you can rent wedding clothes (10,000 for her, 8,000 for him), but this isn't required.
You can talk to the wedding usher to specify what is engraved on the wedding rings.
You'll receive unique titles.

Divorce costs 20,000 if both consent. If one partner hasn't logged in for a long time, the other can pay 50,000 for a divorce without their consent.

Mabinogi Character Simulator

The Mabinogi Character Simulator allows you to try different looks and outfits outside the bounds of the game. This simulator is made by Mabinogi Laboratory.

There are a few tricks to making it run. First, it will only run in internet explorer, because it needs Active X. When you go to the page you may need to allow an additional add-on to run. When I first went, the link I clicked was directly to the simulator, and it popped up one message for an add-on, which I allowed, but the page then only half loaded. I had the control bars on the right, but no character model would load. Go to the FRONT page (which is what I linked to, above) and if there is a white space on it where no picture loads, just to the left of the text, click on that. It will prompt you to run another add-on. After you've allowed that, you can go back to the character simulator and it should display correctly. Mine did.

If you're still having trouble, this thread on Mabinogi World discusses different issues and how to resolve them.

Mabinogi Dye Tool

When I first heard of Dyelite, it was shared by the Realblack guild. Their website's gone, but there's a mirror of the dye program on mediafire, and video instruction guide on youtube.

Download Dyelite from mediafire.

For text instructions for the dye helper and a little troubleshooting discussion, check this thread.

When I try to buy misc... stuff it says I need at least one character. And i already have a character
  • Prymus Mar 24, 2012 @ 3:23 pm | delete
I haven't heard of this problem before. If you're on the website buying it, then you have to select a character from the upper left hand corner in the popup box if you have more than one character.

I don't know otherwise. Report it to NEXON.
