Magalluf: Incredibly popular.
Every year, millions of people visit Majorca, tempted by the sun, the sand, the sea and the buzzing nightlife. And with holidays to Majorca getting cheaper and cheaper, there's never been a better time to visit Majorca's buzzing capital. Here's why you should be interested.

Why Magalluf?
An overview of the resort
While Palma is the actual capital of the island, if Majorca were to have an officially designated clubbing capital, then this would undoubtedly be it.Out of peak summer season, its demographic does change slightly (from families and 18-30s to middle aged couples and others looking to take advantage of the warm Majorcan winter) but as a rule, this is Clubber's paradise. The clubs tend to open late (9pm, 10ish) but stay open until 6am the following morning - a quiet retreat, this is not.
The fine sandy beaches are perfect for resting off the hangover, however, and there's plenty to do for those annoying types who drink all they like and wake up fresh as a daisy: watersports, swimming, glass bottom boat trips - even some diving if you fancy a trip to one of the nearby resorts to escape the crowds.
While it's not everyone's idea of an ideal beach holiday (Magalluf tends to polarise those looking for queit relaxation and those looking for non-stop action) it is the most popular resort amongst British young people for a reason.
Magalluf's Club Scene
As mentioned above, the club scene in Magalluf really is wall to wall. Here's a selection of the most popular clubs in the resort and what kind of thing to expect:
BCMThis is the best known nightclub, certainly in Magalluf and probably on the whole island. It attracts big name DJs from around the world to perform in the peak season, and in the past has attracted names such as Judge Jules, DJ Sammy and Tim Westwood. 18-30s party around here until the sun rises over Magalluf the next morning.
Bananas
This is one of the veterans of the ever evolving Magalluf club scene. In fact it was in the 80s that DJ Sammy first made an appearance on the island. You can expect a similar kind of atmosphere to BCM, but on a smaller scale.
Mulligans
A relative newcomer to the Magalluf strip - this one plays a mix of House, RnB and dance music every night of the summer season from 10pm to 6am the following morning.
d-2000
This one is aimed at the younger and more, ahem, "frisky" consumers with regular tasteful events like 'wet t shirt contests' and foam parties. The big selling point here (provided a wet t shirt contest doesn't float your proverbial boat) is the more ecclectic range of music played - RnB, Rock, House, Disco, Karaoke, Calypso and more. Unlimited drinks are included in the admission fee, guaranteeing a memorable evening.
Boomerangs
Last but definitely not least is Boomerangs, which offers an incredibly popular evening of drinks and revelry with tourists. It's similar to the other clubs in terms of music, RnB and Hip Hop mainly, but if that's your bag then this club offers everything you might need.
Magalluf's Beaches
The beach of Magaluf is the perfect place to sleep off an unpleasant hangover! At around a kilometre long, there's usually space for some sunbathing even in high season, and those looking to explore can visit a small island just off the coast via a pedallo or boat. The beach is kept very clean by the council and has been awarded the blue flag award on several occasions.
The view is crystal clear, and some days you can see the neighbouring coasts of Palma and El Arenal!
Those looking for something more than just relaxing (who I feel sort of miss the point of beaches) will be delighted to know that there are fishing, snorkelling and watersports options available. Personally, you'll find me reclining under a parasole, but each to their own!
Magalluf's Local Sights
Bungee catapultThis sure isn't for everyone, but is certainly a talking point from any Magalluf holiday. There's a video of the beast in action in the YouTube section, and if you still want a go then you're a braver man than I!
Diving
There's a few diving opportunities around if that's your thing (and with the lovely warm waters, it really should be). Beginners will find a local British owned diver school (MAD divers) working out of Magalluf, which helpfully sidesteps the language barrier...
Minigolf
With the absense of decent mini-golf courses locally to me, this is something I really miss: the usual affair of windmills and water features allow you to show off your skills (or not) in sunny climes. There are a total of 54 holes at Golf Fantasia, but you get allocated a random 18 hole course, so it's pure luck as to whether you can see them all.
Pirates!
I must admit I didn't see this (it really doesn't seem like my thing) but it's been getting unaccountably good reviews, so it's got to be worth a mention! It's a dinner show with dancing, theatre and accrobatics. There's also an 18-rated adults-only version, which makes my mind boggle...
Aqualand
Good for the kids (and young-at-heart grown-ups) this one: we all know the drill with waterparks. Slides, rides and cool waters with dazzling sunshine. It's as good a way to spend a day as any...
