Magic Kingdom Secrets
Fun things you may not know about Disney's Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom park is actually built above the ground and has underground tunnels and corridors known as Utilidors. The story goes that Walt Disney was once alarmed to see a Frontierland cowboy walking through Tomorrowland in Disneyland. Walt was shocked at how this spoiled the illusion for guests so set out to solve this in Disney World. To do this the design incorporated the Utilidors so that the Disney cast members and services would not have to be seen by guests in the park. As the water table is so low in Florida these tunnels had to be constructed at sea level. You have no idea when you enter Magic Kingdom that the park itself it built up higher than the Seven Seas Lagoon.
