Hai Everybody,
I am now trying magic 10 to develope application, but I think until now why magic doesn't suppot reguler button with single image, to make our work much easier?
And then, I need a toolbar on a form, but it cannot? I appreciate if magic or somebody create button with single image, and create toolbar for form. :)

- The MWRTFEditor and it's complementary partner control MWRTFPreview are unique. Although they could be used in any development environment that support ActiveX, they are specially designed for usage in the Magic / eDeveloper (Magic) environment.
At last you can provide an easy and powerful solution in your applications to the age old problem of merged document output. These controls allow your end users to design their own merged documents WITHOUT having to know the first thing about the RTF Merge process. They can just drag and drop fields onto their document and the MWRTFEditor does the rest. The usual tag issues are totally hidden from view. - EDev to Excel

- Get.DLL: a Must have
- GET.DLL : a Magic DLL collection
GET.DLL is a set of 6 freeware Magic DLLs, one for general functions GET.DLL, one for network and internet functions NETGET.DLL, one to dial a phone number using the sound card PHONEGET.DLL, one for email MAILGET.DLL, one for Windows NT specific functions NTGET.DLL, and another for Citrix (Metaframe) system MFGET.DLL.
This Magic DLLs suite adds useful functions (UDP or UDF) for Magic V7, V8 and V9 (eDeveloper) for Windows 9X/ME or NT/2K, that I recommend you to call from a Magic program wrapper (easier maintenance, possibility to replace call to GET.DLL by use of the Magic V8.2+ calldll to Windows DLLs (a few wrappers show this new possibility), or a newly implemented Magic function, ... ), as well as several Magic Development tools.
What is Magic RADD from Magic Software Enterprises ?
Magic (now Magic 9 eDeveloper) is an innovating engine based RAD tool (or RADD for Rapid Application Development and Deployment) that outperforms other 4GL tools in term of rapidity of development, as its performances in various development competitions prove it ! You can use the same paradigm to develop stand alone applications, but also n-tiers, internet or client/server applications, in various server platforms (Windows NT, Linux, various Unix flavors, AS/400, ...) and databases ( Oracle, MS SQL server, Sybase, Btrieve, ODBC (Btrieve ODBC), DB2, ...). - Heidi Schuppenhauer Apprentice Books
- A lot of that is encapsulated in the Sorcerer's Apprentice books, and
is detailed in some of the classes at Lulu. I have some other courses
tthat aren't on Lulu that deal specifically with deployment, at a very
detailed level.
One thing though: the deployment is likely to change in the next
year, or at least you'll have a new option for deployment that
hasn't been there in the past. It is called Rich Client (and there's a
class on that too you can watch) and I'm very excited about it. We're
all waiting for the rollout!
I've been using eDev for over 15 years now. Before that I worked on
large-scale projects at Boeing, mostly in configuration control adn
programmer productivity tools. The thing that hooked me about eDev
is that it IS incredibly scalable: you can use it for little projects using
a little DBMS, and then hook it into a major Oracle DBMS and it
works the same (OK, there are some programming differences between
SQL and ISAM and XML, but still, it's something you wouldn't even
think about on some platforms).
Also eDev "manages complexity" better than any tool I've used. Your
function points for a program drop drastically. So do your bugs.
The programs are superbly robust, and the issues tend to be
DBMS or hardware problems. The programs are very easy to
change on the fly, so it makes a good "mock up" tool. I sometimes
write the screens while the user tells me what they need.
Using some of the newer programming paradigms, like ActiveX and
SOAP, are far easier in eDev than on competing platforms.
Downside: eDev programmers rarely get decent training. They are
sent for a 1-week course and then set loose. You need a good
architect for the project, and good ongoing training (which is what I'm
trying to provide at Lulu, for a really decent price too). eDev
programmers are often not supervised well either, and the "normal"
standards and testing processes that one would use on a large
project are often sorely lacking. And, as with all programming
platforms, there is a huge gap between "good" and "mediocre"
programmers.
You can also get the tutorial "Buffers, Vectors, and Blobs"
by Steve from Lulu. It is in V9 and it does have samples.
There is also a section in Mastering eDeveloper ...
download Discovery and you get ME for free. Much
if it, probably most of it, is directly applicable to V9.
Also there is a little bit about vectors in The Sorcerer's Apprentice

- Hot Fudge is a collection of gadgets, components, functions and utilities designed for easy integration with Magic/eDeveloper - greatly extending the capabilities of MSE's Rapid Application Development Toolkit.
Hot Fudge adds drag and drop, treeview controls, outlook-style bars, animated gif/avi/ani support, hyperlinks, mail, PDF creation, embedded browsers, MSAgent support, registry/INI access, charts, audio, cursor control, common dialogs, Explorer-style buttons and so much more to Magic. Compatible with Magic v7x/8x on win95/98/NT/2k/XP/2k3.
Hot Fudge v1 specifically targetted Magic v7/8 and was last released on 11-03-2003. After a long break from this project, new Hot Fudge components for Magic v9.4 & eDeveloper 10 are under development.
HOT FUDGE v2.0 Beta for Magic/eDeveloper v9/10
"Back to Basics"
HotFudge for Magic 7/8 was pretty cool when it was developed and released some 4 or more years ago. A powerful subclassing engine gave the Magic developer a host of new gadgets and components hitherto unimaginable. That was then, this is now.
Magic/eDeveloper v9 and 10 has since moved on, become more sophisticated and rounded-out some of that functionality that made HotFudge so vital. You don't need HotFudge to do treeviews, or embedded browsers or drag&drop because Magic supports these things now.
But there's always a place for add-ons...
So what I'm doing is getting right back to basics, I've deprecated the stuff that isn't required in v9/10 and I'm releasing here the first in a regular series of updates to the HotFudge utilities suite specifically designed for v9, v10 and beyond.
(HotFudge v1.63 still exists and is still available but is only supported for Magic v7 and v8.)
Help me build a better HotFudge, help me build a better Magic. Send me your ideas for HotFudge features and I'll select the best and most practical and make them happen. Just like the old days. - Creat Excel worksheets
