Analyze What Your Competition is Doing

You're probably thinking. What!? How does watching my competition help my business? Besides my business has no competition.

If you're thinking that your business has no competition, be honest with yourself. Every Online Business has competition. And yes, there are things that you do better than your competition, but what do they do better than you? Don't think they do? How many prospects have you not signed up to your business? They more than likely joined another online business.

Ok, how do you analyze your competition and what are the benefits?

Discover why your prospect chose the competition over you: Do they have a price advantage? Did they position their business in a different way that appeals more to a certain market or did they just market better even though your product or service is better? Understanding the competitions strength is vital in creating your own marketing strategy.

Analyze website and copy: Web site and copy can tell you what type of customer your competition is targeting. Copy is created different for the type of customer being targeted. Is it written for small business owners or VP's? Spend time navigating their site, is it user friendly? Is it up to date and updated often? What do you like about the layout and design? What don't you like? If the market you're looking to attract is people like yourself, what you like they will like and vice versa. Another benefit to this is finding ways to improve your site. I would not suggest or condone copying what they do, but this does foster great ideas on how to improve your site.

Evaluate what sites your competition uses to post articles on: What is the quality of the sites they publish their articles on? Who interviews them? If your competition writes and posts articles on well known sites and blogs, than that is an approach for you to strongly consider. It's not always about the numbers online; it's also about building relationships. Get to know these sites and those who run them create a relationship and approach them with ideas about articles. These relationships will pay off.

What Social Networks do they use? Whether they se Twitter, Digg, Facebook or Mixx, follow them and establish relationships with them, doing so is crucial. People reveal a lot of information about their business on these networks. The minimum that could happen is you will have friendly relationships and networking with the competition.

Download their information and subscribe to their RSS: Downloading information that they have available and following your competitions blogs by subscribing to their RSS Feeds provides great insights to what your competition is doing. This will help you keep up with the latest in your field and keep you informed about your industry. This is a must if you hope to lead the field. It will also give you great insights and opportunities to expand your knowledge. This is also a way to have great inspiration for topics of your own.

How are they running their PPC campaigns? If you are looking to start your own or improve a PPC campaign, it is important to know what different words the competition is bidding on and what their daily budgets are. It's also important to monitor what days and ranking they are bidding on. There are several great tools available for tracking this.

Discover what sites are linking to them: Where is your competition getting their Backlinks? Yahoo has a great tool to create a list of blogs that link to your competitor. Take the time to establish relationships with these blogs. DO NOT spam, get to know these bloggers and in time they will link back to you.

Utilize any or all of these to keep informed about your competition, create relationships in your market. You will soon see an increase in exposure, traffic and revenue from your efforts.

Before we get started, let's clear the air on a few things that we all see mentioned all over the internet in our quest for a truly great internet business to be part of and enhance our lives;

A) - This business is for everyone and anyone can do this. Not even close to being truthful. There is no one business offline or online that is for everyone and anyone can do. This is a bunch of BS! If it were true, there would be only one business that everyone does worldwide. We are all different and therefore have different likes, dislikes and have things we can do and can't do. The first of many keys is finding one that appeals to you and you agree with.

B) - 95% of people online fail because they don't use this advertising source or don't have this one thing in their library. Another line of BS! Yes, the number of people who fail online is quite high and might even be higher than 95%. However, there are 2 reasons; 1) - The belief that if you start or join a business and get a website online that success and financial wealth will fall into your bank account or lap without any action on your part. I blame this on unscrupulous advertisers and marketers who try to lead people to believe this falsehood. Let's discuss this one for just a moment, it's important that everyone who wants or has an online business knows and understands this. This is a false belief! IT DOES NOT HAPPEN THIS WAY. Look at it this way, when you started your career, did you have any training or did you know everything needed to be successful at it? When you are working, are you working at doing everything you can to be successful and keep your job and income? You need to do the same things with a business. Learn how to get your business successful and work on keeping it that way, which brings us to the next reason. 2) - Sponsors and Mentors. When you are looking at a business opportunity, don't fall victim to the price of the start up. It makes no difference if the business is free (which by the way it isn't) or if it costs $5,000 to start. If you don't have someone personally mentoring and training you step by step on what to do and how to do it, you will be fighting an uphill battle and spending more time and money than you will probably earn and then give up. When looking at a site or sales letter for a business opportunity, does the person who is promoting this giving their contact info? Have you tried to contact them and ask questions? Can you reach them? Do they respond? When talking to them, if you can, do they twist your arm to hurry up and start now or do they answer your questions, give you reference info and let you decide on your own if it's right for you? And here's the biggie, Do they give you some out of this world figure on money they are making? (be very leery of people who do this right at the start) My point here is that if you can't reach them before you become part of their business and get any and all questions answered, how likely are they to be there and reachable when you do get started, need assistance and training?

As I'm sure you have read, I am involved with MyInternetBusiness and with a wonderful team of leaders and individuals who are truly here to help anyone who needs or wants it. I really wish I could say that everyone with MyInternetBusiness is aligned with a great team or sponsor but that just would not be the truth. We all hope that only honest well meaning people are involved in any business, but the element of people that are in it only for themselves always find their way in and promote themselves as people who care, when all they are doing is going for the money and leaving people out in the cold. It's unfortunate and a bunch of BS, but it happens and there is no way around it in any business. What I'd like to suggest you do when investigating this business, is what I have mentioned several times, call or email the person who is listed on the advertisement or site you are looking at, get any and all your questions answered and find out if they are pushing you to join or letting you make the decision in your time. Then ask them if you can speak to their sponsor or a leader on the team. They should oblige your request and either get you connected with them or a way that you can contact another leader or sponsor that will be happy to answer your questions and give you another point of reference and explains how they operate their business and work with the team. You will find that a good mentor/sponsor provides all of this without hesitation and that the leaders and mentors of the team will do everything they can to assist and provide training so you can be successful. And the kicker is, they do it without any monetary compensation at all, it's because it's the right thing to do. Make no mistake though, if you don't take action and do the work, the information and training is useless. No amount of training will help if you aren't committed to putting it into action.

It really doesn't make sense from a business and profit perspective to pass up sales, when for virtually the same start up investments you will be in profit with less sales and therefore less time. Isn't that the goal of being in business, to cover your costs, make a profit as quick as possible, improve your income and fulfill your desires for a better life?

Let's go a little more into detail of why there is such a difference and how the profit potential is even more than illustrated above with MyInternetBusiness.

One of the most important techniques I teach in My Internet Business Is How you should be branding yourself on the Internet. Making Money Online with MyInternetBusiness and becoming a successful entrepreneur is not as impossible as it seems. All it takes is getting your self in the right mindset.

First

One thing you have to get in your head from the start is there is no such thing as becoming rich overnight. It takes time and hard work to become successful in owning a home business. As they say Rome wasn't built in a day.

When you are first starting out in the world of owning your own home business it can take months to generate an income large enough to keep you and your family supported. In those months it can be very easy to get stressed out and discouraged and want to quit. This is why most people fail in starting a home business. They believe all the hype they see online about getting rich overnight and they join an income opportunity or something to that effect and expect to be rich with very little work. This is a big mistake. You can not get something for nothing. It is your home business and you are only going to get out of it what you put into it. Stay strong and don't give up. Give yourself time to create a solid home business.

Second

The second thing that causes most people to fail is letting others influence their thoughts in a negative manner. Many family and friends, though meaning well, can cause you to quit before you see the true benefits of your labor. They will tell you it's not a real job, you are wasting your time and money%u2026and so on. They will tell you this again and again sometimes maybe even to the point of not so nice of words being exchanged. Again, you have to stay strong. Stand your ground. This is your future, your dream, your life. If you don't stand up for it, who will?

A way to avoid any conflict is to not quit your job until you at least match your income and it stays this way for at least three months in a row. Another is to quite simply not tell anyone you are doing a home business until you are actually seeing an income from it online. Then your friends and family will see this and they will come to you wanting to know how you are doing it. This of course is the best lead you can get because you have already struck their curiosity and they will be more likely to listen to what you have to say.

Third

The third mindset is responsibility. It can be very easy to let the fun things in life get in the way of your work. When you are involved in a home business you are the boss. There is no one to keep you working but you. A friend comes over and wants to go out and shoot pool or your significant other wants to go to the movies. You say to yourself.. well I can do my work later. The problem with this is later never comes. Things will always get in the way of your home business if you let them.
A good way to prevent this is to make up a schedule and stick to it. Find a quiet spot in your home where there are no distractions and make this your personal work space. Make sure your friends and family know that you are not to be disturbed during your scheduled work hours and that they need to respect this.

Don't forget to leave time in your schedule for family and friends. Though it is very important to put time and effort into your home business it is equally if not more important to have time to relax and enjoy life. Too much work will cause you allot of stress and before long the boys in white will be coming to put you in a straight jacket and put you in a padded room.

Fourth

The fourth and final mindset that is also very important is financial responsibility. When you start seeing an income from your home business it can get pretty exciting and in that excitement you can forget that in order to stay in business and make it successful is to pay for your advertising with part of your profits. Your goal is to minimize your out of pocket expense. A good rule of thumb that I have followed is to reinvest at least 30% of your profits to your advertising and marketing efforts. This in turn will help your profits grow which also grows your marketing budget and will eventually completely eliminate your out of pocket expense.

A quote I am reminded of by my mentors in Team Mentors and is as true as life itself. "If you think you can earn a full-time income with a home-based internet business, you're absolutely right. If you think you can't, you're absolutely right too. It really does boil down 100% to your mindset, and whether you are willing to put the effort in to making money online."
