Why bother when the HELP'sAtHAND??

You are a master in your own field. Studying at a great B School or Tutoring, consulting with billion $ organizations or trying to sell something/anything. Often the dillema is, should you spend time preparing your speech to match your presentation or trying to put down what you want to convey on the power point slides? Should you use animations or humour? Or how do you start and end??

Here you will get some ideas that have worked for me over the past decade while selling projects, presenting business plans to the BOARD and with the NOT SO GENEROUS audience of industrial biggies. Hope you will find them useful.

For those of you who want specific inputs on your work, I can be reached at "TheHelpsAtHand@gmail.com".
One caveat though. I am a working professional. Just gimme a tad extra time to get back.

And yes, to tell you the truth, the first 6 months that I worked on Power Point, everytime I opened a file, my hands & legs trembled.
Go enjoy.

Few Quick Tips On Using Power Point

Not that nobody knows, but few remember to practice...

1) To Start with, the first slide needs to convey half of what you are about to preach...
a) It could be a startling statement relevent to the discussion or it could be plain vanilla title. This is more pertinent to Business Case presentations.

b) But for a Professor of Human Psychology or Quantum Physics, more opt could be an opening with a hand drawn cartoon.... It works too well to guage.

2) The second one must tell your audience what is is store for them for that day.... It is advisable to avoid using " Index ", "Presentation Flow", or any suggestive words.
a) If the presentation runs into more than 20 slides, and no of sections, each section should end with a summary and introduction of the next session. Be it in 1 spoken line.
b) Also, for a presentation lasting more than 20 slides, one last slide must summarize the contents of all.....

Remember, first 2-3 & last 2 slides are the only ones that most people in the audience will pay full attention to...

By any chance did you ever notice, when you have a slide ON for more than a few seconds, people tend to read ahead and preempt what you would say next?? Avoid this.
3) Use "B" key to blank out your screen when you want all the attention diverted to you rather than the projection wall. The same "B" key will bring you back on.

How many times did you use "Links" in your presentation and were lost because the links did not work?
4) Why not flip between 2 slides just by pressing the numerical keys for the slide no?? You only need to keep a paper with Slide Nos & their titles in hand.

Would love your feedback............(as long as it is positive)

Well, will read it even if its not all good.. (and try to improve the lense)
