I learned about Internet Marketing one day when I was walking down the street with a buddy of mine (who is now a TOP marketer). He mentioned something about this system where you could sell things online and make money doing so. I had absolutely zero knowledge of what Internet marketing was, so I decided to start doing research. The time was October 2002, and I had just begun going to school to study Computer Science. Money was a bit tight at that point, and the work load at school was just too heavy to hold down a weekend job. I though that I'd give this Internet marketing thing a try.

Back then, things were different than they are now as affiliate programs were just starting to pop up all over the place. My initial daily budget was set at $5 and I wasn't using Google, or Overture (Yahoo Search Marketing). I was using Findwhat.com (MIVA). All markets back then were literally untouched and I had no trouble earning a lot of money quite quickly. It was at that point when I decided to tell my buddy at school (Kyle) about what I had learned and he started working on his own campaigns.

Before I knew it, I was spending $200, $300, $500 a day in advertising and the checks were rolling in nicely! Making $1000 / day with the affiliate marketing thing was awesome and it allowed me to build up my bank account at a very fast rate.

The key for me to earn huge dollars as an affiliate was to be organized. I believe very strongly that in this business, organization is what allows a person to grow, and evolve. Before I decided to get organized, it wasn't difficult for an entire Saturday to pass me by without even doing anything productive towards my Internet marketing business. I would "think" that I was working, but in reality I would be surfing the net, checking my sales, doing research, looking at what other people were doing etc. Many of you have probably done the exact same thing, or do the same thing. Well, organization allowed me to build my personal business into what it is today, and organization helped develop Wealthy Affiliate into what it is today!

My friends always ask me "how the heck to you make so much money?". I tell them that it's been 4 years of spending as much time as I can working on my business. It's difficult to think about earning $2000, $3000, $5000, in a day, but the reality is, that I've done it. I've reached my short term goals by being dedicated, and organized. There are crappy times, and days where profits are way down, but I know they'll be back up because I'm on the forefront of Internet Marketing and I'm continually learning.

Internet Marketing isn't for everyone, but it has the potential to change lives for many people. Kyle and I receive tons of email each day and a lot of it is "Thank You" mail from current members, or people who have used our techniques from Beating Adwords, or Inside the List. It really feels great to help people learn the techniques that we use to earn money online.

I started Internet marketing back in the beginning of 2003 when I was attending college for computers, in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada). I was born and raised in Victoria and I believe that it is one of the most beautiful cities in the whole world.

Internet marketing began as a hobby. I was trying to make a little extra money while I was attending college and I quickly saw the opportunity that lay within the Internet as soon as I made my first commission. I was also ecstatic when I received my first check of $70!

I quickly moved forward within the IM field, researched as much material as I could, probing industries & keywords, and searching for new opportunities. I went from a budget of $5/day within the first week, to spending over $400/day in advertising within the first 6 months of starting Internet marketing. I was profiting over $20,000/mth!!

I have always thought "outside the box" and have been driven towards success, but I have never experienced this sort of success. I always envisioned myself owning a business, but never one that could be created so quickly, or with such little education.

I am a true believer that educating yourself will increase your "earning potential". Whether your pick up the latest magazine, watch an informational television show, go to university, or pick up a book, you are increasing your earning potential. This is especially the case within Internet marketing as you can become profitable within almost every industry imaginable.
