Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Rugby League Football Club

The Manly-Warringah District Rugby League Football Club joined the NSWRL in 1947. They are based on the northern beaches of Sydney and play their home games at Brookvale Oval. They have won the premiership seven times and have been runners up 10 times.
Manly have never won the wooden spoon in the sixty-three years that they have been in the competition.

When the club was founded Manly council refused permission for the club to play on Manly oval. The council was pro rugby union and didn't want league to be played in the area.
The club then got permission from Warringah council to use Brookvale Showground. This ground has had several renovations over the years, but is now to undergo a major redevelopment.

In 1997, Manly stayed loyal to the ARL during the Super League war. The club agreed to a joint venture with the North Sydney Bears for the 2000 season. The new club was called the Northern Eagles.
The venture collapsed in 2001 with Manly keeping the name of the Northern Eagles for the 2002 season. North Sydney were no longer playing in the main competition.
In 2003 Manly reverted to their own name of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Main Rivals

North Sydney who no longer play in the competition, but do have teams in lower grades. Some bad vibes over the failed venture.

Parramatta Eels - Both joined in 1947, close games and rivalry. Manly won 1976 grand final stopping the Eels from winning their first premiership.

Also some rivaly with Wests, Souths, Knights, Storm and Sharks.
