Squidoo Lensmaster Extraordinaire And My Superhero - Margaret Schaut!

Stan Lee, the legendary creator of Spider Man, describes the genuine qualities of a superhero - integrity, courage, self-sacrifice, and honesty. Using this expert list of human virtues and additional observations about my mentor and friend as my guidelines, I will demonstrate in this lens why Super Squidoo Masterpiece Lenscrafter Margaret Schaut is my superhero.

In The Beginning...

Meeting Margaret.

It was around week 6 of my Squidoo lensmaster (apprentice) ship, when I noticed a fascinating new lens: "10 Quick Steps To Destroy America". This lens offers a well-documented study of the political realities in today's America. I was impressed by the thoroughness and integrity of this page and I submitted it to HQ for LotD consideration. This discovery sparked my curiosity, of course, and I decided to explore more of Margaret's work. I'm so glad that I did.

Especially her tutorial lenses, "How To Make Your First (And Second) Squidoo Lens" and "The Text/Write Module For Anything", provided me with invaluable guidance to which I refer to this day.

And then I found David - "Michelangelo's David", to be exact. During the first 10 minutes of slowly scrolling down the page, this masterpiece of Squidoo lenscrafting took away all my excuses for shoddy lensmaking. Not that I felt I could produce anything comparable soon - I knew at the same time that my long-term goal has been established. This lens became my instant measuring stick for all my future aspirations as a Squidoo lensmaster. I knew, right there and right then - as long as my lenses won't capture at least a solid percentage of Margaret's high standards - I have failed.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I fail with some of my projects, but Margaret Schaut's example has given me the drive to improve my lenses continuously - based on honest self-criticism and always with one eye glancing at "David".

Superhero Qualities - As Defined By Seth Godin

Quoting from Seth's blog:

"Superheroes don't have a look, but they definitely have an attitude. They're restless and impatient, but, here's the cool paradox, they're also calm and patient. Patient because they realize that change takes a while. Patient because they understand that if it's worth doing, it's worth getting through the Dip. Impatient and restless, though, because they refuse to accept the status quo."

Batman, Super Man and friends - dreams come true, some day!

Margaret Schaut, and others who work hard today to help us understand our realities!

ElizabethJeanAllen says:

Real people. I know several superheros. They go quietly about their business... offering a helping hand when its needed and even when its not. They don't push to the front of the line or ask for recognition. They are angels here on earth. All we have to do is open our eyes and we can see them.

Janusz says:

Without Margaret, Squidoo Design probably wouldn´t exist. I am a Fan for life.

JanaMurray says:

Margaret is awesome :)

KimGiancaterino says:

Anyone who strives to make the world a better place is a superhero in my book. Margaret proves through her generosity and actions that she truly cares for her country and fellow human beings (and of course, her fellow Squidizens!)

John_Fenzel says:

Margaret Schaut's EBook "Masterpiece Lenscrafting On Squidoo"

Can you afford NOT to learn from a master?

eBook "Masterpiece Lenscrafting on Squidoo"
squidoo ebook

Seth Godin and Megan Casey were "fantastically impressed" by this work and they renamed it Masterpiece Manifesto.

From Megan's email:
"I hope you don't mind that I shared this with Seth in the office here, and we're both fantastically impressed by your effort.
The more people you can reach with your message about quality content and authentic voice and writing and recommendations, the better Squidoo will be. But more importantly, the better those people will do, and in the end, the better the web will be. Suffice it to say I think this is an important manifesto - and I actually think you could call it that."

Chef Keem's review of this ebook, 4/25/08
This ebook is written like an article - no hype, no announcements in triple bold letters, no space-wasting this or that. Here you'll find paragraph after paragraph after paragraph chock-full of invaluable information and direct guidance on "Masterpiece Lenscrafting on Squidoo". During my first quick read-through I couldn't help but gasp at the realization of glaring "mistakes" on my lenses which block my success with lensrankings and visitor numbers alike. And I learned about the "true secrets" of high rankings on Squidoo, Google, and the entire web.

Today, I'm honored with my first LOTD recognition. This book shall guide me to my second nomination and much, much more.

The author is someone we all know as one of the most successful lensmasters in the history of Squidoo. A beautifully generous mentor of the essence of Squidoo, a big-hearted angel to all sincere squidlins - Margaret Schaut.

Margaret doesn't have to prove anything, anymore. Her masterpiece lens on Michelangelo's David is one of the very few pages that has achieved #1 lensrank.
She is one of the Top 100 Club Giant Squids, a 4-time LOTD recipient, a "retired" Citizen Squids, blogger and multiple group master. That's enough credibility for me. Wouldn't you agree?

Say "hello" to Margaret - and maybe "thank you"...

This Squidoo superhero has helped thousands of lensmasters!

Thank you for visiting this lens and Margaret's important body of work on Squidoo. Please leave a comment in the duel module above and in the guest book right here.
