Mr.& Mrs.Sam Sheppard
Sam Sheppard was voted the man "Most Likely to Succeed" by his senior high school class. He was athletic, smart, good looking, and came from a good family. Marilyn Sheppard was attractive, with hazel eyes and long brown hair. The two began dating while in high school and eventually married after Sam graduated from the Los Angeles Osteopathic School of Physicians in September 1945.
Sam continued his studies and received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. He went to work at the Los Angeles County Hospital. His father, Dr. Richard Sheppard, and his two older brothers, Richard and Stephen, also doctors, were running a family hospital and convinced Sam to return to Ohio in the summer of 1951 to work in the family practice.
Marilyn Sheppard -- Homemaker and Mother: By now the young couple had a four-year old son, Samuel Resse Sheppard (Chip), and with a loan from Sam's father, they purchased their first home. The home sat on a high cliff over looking Lake Erie shore in Bay Village, a semi-elite suburb of Cleveland. Marilyn settled into the life of being married to a physician. She was a mother, homemaker, and taught Bible classes at their Methodist Church.

- The murder of Marilyn
It had been a hot, sunny Saturday in the quiet Cleveland suburb of Bay Village perfect for picnics, boating and swimming, an ideal start for the three-day holiday weekend. Tomorrow, the Fourth of July, and Monday, the legal holiday, promised more beautiful mid-summer days...- The 1954 Trial
The trial of Sam Sheppard opened on October 18, 1954
The Sam Sheppard case is the classic example of how the media and the townspeople can play a role in the legal community. In this case the people of Cleveland destroyed a man, a family, and the belief of innocence before being found guilty. Unfortunately, for Sam Sheppard, this case decided his fate, his life, and his death. Although his son has fought for his exoneration, the people of Ohio still believe, even the evidence points against it, that Sam Sheppard murdered his wife.- Trial

Daybed

Sams 'A Bushy Haired Intruder:
On the night of July 4, 1954, Marilyn, who was four months pregnant, and Sam entertained neighbors until midnight. After the neighbors left Sam fell asleep on the daybed and Marilyn went to bed. According to Sam Sheppard, he was awakened by what he thought was his wife calling his name. He ran to their bedroom and saw someone who he described later as a "bushy haired man" fighting with his wife but was immediately struck on the head, rendering him unconscious.
When Sheppard awoke he checked the pulse of his blood-covered wife and determined she was dead. He then went to check on his son who he found unharmed. Hearing noises coming from the downstairs he ran down and discovered the back door opened. He ran outside. He could see someone moving toward the lake and as he caught up with him, the two began to fight. Sheppard was struck again and lost consciousness. For month's after Sam would describe what happened over and over - but few believed him

- Suspect
The real story Bailey said that it was Mr. and Mrs J. Spencer Houk (The mayor of Bay Village, Ohio ) Bailey adopted the theory that a couple in the Sheppards' neighborhood, Spencer and Esther Houk, were responsible for Mrs. Sheppard's beating death

# 2 Suspect Richard Eberling
- Early years
Early years- when I read this mans story I know why he ended up in prison but I don't think he killed Marilyn he had no bushy hair and not only that Sam would have known him since Richard Eberling washed the Sheppards windows
Wikipedia- A ring thief
Richard does not look like he had a bushy hair style

- Did this Doctor kill his wife ?
Did Sam Do It? The Marilyn Sheppard Murder Case: An Analysis of the Evidence "Twenty-seven times. Is it a burglar or an enraged husband? The murder scene suggested overkill--not the act of a burglar.
He never admited guilt but instead his attorney and Sam put the blame on others..

CRIME SCENE ANALYSIS
The victim's body is not concealed.
The victim's body was not concealed rather it was displayed to suggest she had been sexually assaulted The offender staged the scene to make Marilyn Sheppard's death appear as though it occurred in the context of a failed sexual assault or a burglary who ever did this did not rape her they just made it look that way ..Why ??- The Assignment Part 2
CRIME SCENE ANALYSIS
the offender positioned her so that a large horizontal wooden bed post is over her pelvic and vaginal area thus presenting a physical obstruction which would prevent anyone from sexually assaulting the victim in that position. In fact the evidence shows that the victim was not sexually assaulted.- Evidence

- The kind of murders are the very reason the death penalty was removed in Australia. Innocent people can be murdered themselves for something they did not do. A great story. 5*

A couple

What was a good girl like Marilyn doing with Sam ? though he was handsome and to be a doctor which took much work to get there and all but I think he was a player.. married with the perfect wife but for some reason he didn't see it !! the player never does this couple had it all but he had affairs anyway but did he murder his wife ? I prefer to think Richard Eberling did it for the ring ?? or was it the jealous wife Mrs J. Spencer Houk ??
I will leave it up to you to decide both sides are here not Marilyn's side of course.. she didn't know that her prince charming would end up in a couple different affairs and had Marilyn pregnant too !! She went through a lot being married to him and that night in her bed something very bad happen to her but this case has never been about Marilyn she was killed in the worse way possible ..Sam was a womanizer but a murder too? did he kill her ? if not who would be that mad at her to want her dead ? why the single beds was that normal back than for married couples ?
In Memory

Marilyn knew about Sam's affairs one was with a former Bay View nurse named Susan Hayes. According to Sam Sheppard, although the couple experienced problems, divorce was never discussed as they worked to revitalize their marriage. Then tragedy struck
