Marlene Dietrich - not a myth

Ranked #34,551 in Entertainment, #434,648 overall

Re-inventing an actress, gentleman at heart

Marlene Dietrich is truly one of the icons of the 20th Century.

Dietrich was born in Berlin in 1901, became an American citizen in 1937 and died in Paris during her sleep in 1992. In between those dates she lead a life of many roles and characters.

Dietrich left an astonishing audio-visual legacy. With her outspoken character she has also become a role model for many of the actresses that followed her.

I have collected some of the landmarks here for your pleasure.

" I had no desire to be a film actress, to always

play somebody else, to be always beautiful

with somebody constantly straightening out your

every eyelash. It was always a big bother to me. "

" I dress for the image. Not for myself,

not for the public, not for fashion, not for men. "
