Martin Brodeur: The NHL's Shutout King
Both records are unlikely to be broken in the near future, as there is no active goaltender within 40 shutouts of Brodeur and it doesn't look like he will be retiring from the game anytime soon.
Martin Brodeur has been a member of the New Jersey Devils for his whole NHL career since being drafted by the franchise in 1990. He has been a solid performer in net for the Devils, with three Stanley Cups, four Vezina Trophies, Four Jennings Trophies and ten times Brodeur has been a member of the NHL's All Star game.
In addition to unsurpassed excellence as a goaltender, Brodeur occasionally pitches in with the goalscoring, being one of only 2 goalies to have scored during the regular season as well as in the playoffs.

Brodeur Ties Patrick Roy For 551 NHL Wins By A Goalie
New Jersey Defeats The Habs 3-1 On March 14, 2009
The Montreal Canadiens fans stood and cheered as the final horn sounded, but they were not cheering a home town win, they were giving credit to Martin Brodeur as his New Jersey Devils defeated the Habs 3-1. With this win, Brodeur ties goaltending legend Patrick Roy for the most career wins with 551.Brodeur had been talking with reporters before the game and he mentioned his first win, a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins. Brodeur had been playing cards with minor league teammates when he got the call. Three days later, with his first win under his belt, Brodeur said it had been a blur. No blur in this game as Brodeur put in yet another solid effort as his team took an early 2-0 lead before surrendering a single goal by the Canadiens. The Devils and Canadiens spent most of the night in the Canadiens' end of the rink all night and although the Canadiens got some chances, Brodeur slammed the door on almost every chance.
The Devils next play on Tuesday, March 17th at home against the Chicago Blackhawks.
