Having a hard time finding McCulloch chain saw parts?

Having problems locating McCulloch chain saw parts to fix your classic chain saw?

If you're lucky enough to own one of these classics, then it's important to be able to find parts to keep them running.

These classic chain saws don't even compare to the chain saws of today. Maybe today's chain saws are lighter, but will that chain saw still run 5 years from now? There are McCullochs from the '50's and '60's today that are used daily to cut wood.

The old McCullochs are work horses. They start up and take a licking day in and day out and then can be passed on to the next generation in your family. They are extremely reliable and get the job done. But after years of used, and wear and tear, problems can come up and you need to find vintage chain saw parts to fix them. My goal for this lens is to be a resource to find McCulloch chain saw parts to keep your babies running.

Why Can't I Find McCulloch Chain Saw Parts?

Where can I buy McCulloch chain saw parts?

McCulloch Chain Saw Parts

If you're lucky enough to own one of these classics, then finding McCulloch chain saw parts may take some work. It really depends on the model you're looking for and how long that series ran.

Robert McCulloch made chain saws that revolutionized the chain saw industry and changed the way logging was done. After he invented the one man chain saw in 1948, cutting down trees was no longer a 2 man job. His chain saws were light and powerful compared to the big and bulky ones used by the 2 man crews.

He ended up adding 29 firsts over the years that were important innovations to the chain saw market. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt in January of 1999, and finding McCulloch chain saw parts now can be difficult.

Can I Get McCulloch Chain Saw Parts At Home Depot?

Today's McCulloch chain saw parts are not the same.

McCulloch Chain Saw Parts

Why can't I buy McCulloch chain saw parts for my classic at Home Depot? I see the same brand there.

You may be asking yourself this question. The McCullochs of today are not the same as what they were in the past. Not even close. Today's are really just disposable chain saws. They're low quality and are poor performers.

The McCulloch Co. closed their doors in January of 1999. This was the end of the American made chain saw. In June of that year, their parts inventory was sold off at auction. Many McCulloch chain saw parts produced before 1980 were no longer available before they went out of business and are no longer available today.

In 2003, the name was bought by a company from Taiwan called Jeng Feng Company. Since then, the company has gone through a few different owners. In 2008, Husqvarna bought it. Today, it's hard to tell. It depends on which country you live in. A couple different companies now own the McCulloch name. So if you bought one of their chain saws in the U.S. today, it would be different than one bought in Australia. Just check the label. It may say Electrolux, MTD, or Talon. Also, it may say "Assembled in U.S.A.", but its McCulloch chain saw parts were made in China.

So today you may see McCullochs that look like older models, but the parts are from China and of inferior quality.
