Is Melaleuca A Good Business For Reliable Residual Incme?

In this article I will explain why I choose Melaleuca Inc. to build a residual income business. As well as how my early experiences with Amway Corporation and Herbalife International played a significant part in understanding what you must have in a residual income business model to enjoy long term income.

How I Was Introduced To The Concept Of Residual Income

I was first introduced to the concept of residual income when a high school friend invited me to an Amway meeting.

After seeing the "plan" and the power of building residual income I was hooked. For the next three years I worked hard at my home Amway based business but after paying for the books, seminars and rallies it was clear it wasn't a paying proposition... for me.

Although I was on the sidelines of the network marketing for a couple of years the idea of residual income did not leave me. Then one Thursday afternoon I received a work from home book in the mail.

The stories of men and women enjoying freedom, being their own boss and using modern marketing tactics to build their MLM businesses reignited my desire for a reliable stream of residual income.

My timing, my excitement, and a great work ethic helped caused my business to explode.

My Second Attempt At Building Residual Income Business

Herbalife International opened it's doors in 1980 and 15 years later in 1995 I enrolled as a new distributor in a couple of years I had one of the fastest growing distributorships in this weight loss company.

Together with my wife we rose to the top 1% of income earners with that company and we thought we had it made. We had been told that: "When you get to the "President's Team" you will have it made financially!" It was that promise that drove us to work so hard.

The Flaws Of Multilevel Marketing As Related To Building A Residual Income Business

Unfortunately it was only after we achieved this goal that we began to see the flaws of the Herbalife business model:

They had weight loss products (a luxury purchase).

Potential customers perceive the Herbalife products as being expensive.

Weight loss customers tend to be fickle - they are not on the products long.

Herbalife's sales quotas cause most part timers to fail to qualify for full commission checks.

So customer retention is low and distributor attrition is high.

This is not a formula for a successful residual income.

What Makes Melaleuca Inc. Different In Building Residual Income

Why is Melaleuca is so appealing for anyone wanting a reliable residual income?

I believe I am very uniquely qualified to answer this questions because of my previous experience in two multilevel companies and because I achieved top earning status in Herbalife's distributor force.

But what is so interesting about how I was introduced to Melaleuca is that my wife and I had heard about the Melaleuca products for years. What we didn't know was how the Melaleuca business model worked.

Melaleuca has:

Everyday necessity (not luxury) products - like toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant for example.

The Melaleuca products are manufactured with wellness in mind right here in America.

The Melaleuca products are high quality but competitively price to your local store.

Because they are everyday necessity products and competitively priced customers can continue purchasing as retail customers for years and years.

The fact that all one has to do to earn a customer loyalty checks is simply shop for products they already use is what helps cement ongoing customer loyalty!

And most customers like the fact that they buy directly from the Melaleuca factory and not through a chain of distributors.

Let's Look At These Two Residual Income Business Models Again:

Multi-Level Marketing

Purchased through a chain of distributors

Generally high quality luxuries

Perceived as expensive by the retail customer

Low customer reorder rates

Few Herbalife distributor's get checks

Melaleuca's Consumer Direct Marketing

Factory direct purchasing & pricing

High quality necessities

Competitively priced products

High customer reorder rates

Lots of customers get checks

These simple differences between these two residual income business models have a significant difference in whether you will generate long term reliable residual income.

I just started my Melaleuca business and so appreciate you posting this! I became a Director in January. Too many paint Melaleuca with the same Herbalife/Amway brush! I hear all the time "Oh that's like Amway" etc and it can be frustrating to how much that shuts people down. We have lots of PR to do to get everyone to hear the real deal of this ethical and profitable company.
    Best regards
