The term "Meme" is a neologism used to describe a concept or catchphrase that spreads quickly from person to person, much like viral marketing. It's usually an inside joke, a funny video, something gross, image-editing, or just something... strange.

Have you heard about Rickrolling? Or have you been Rickrolled? If you have ever clicked on a link before thinking it was something else, but instead you see this, then you have been Rickrolled at some point. The reason why I'm bringing that up is because that itself, is a meme. You see if spreading like a wild-fire throughout the internet. In a way, the idea a meme is sort of like a big "bandwagon effect", everyone sees that it's the thing to do so everyone hops on board and starts doing it too.
