The key to losing weight is to understand how metabolism works.
Below I will discuss how metabolism works, and how it affects your weight as well as providing some information on how you can begin to increase your metabolism.

The Metabolic Process in brief
Metabolism is a process that requires many complicated reactions, but hopefully this bit will clear it up for you a little!Metabolism can be described as all the chemical and physical reactions that happen in order to maintain normal functioning and growth on our bodies. It includes:
1. Anabolism (building up molecules required by the body from nutrients manufactured elsewhere or digested)
2. Catabolism (breaking down molecules in order to obtain energy).
With catabolism, there are three important processes that the body creates in order to breakdown glucose and fat from the body. Glucose, found in glucose, other sugars and carbohydrates, is broken down in to pyruvate through the process of glycolysis. When pyruvate is converted into acetyl CoA, this enters the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle).
Fats are found in the diet mostly as triacylglycerol which is broken down into its three fatty acids. These are then converted into a fatty acyl CoA molecule that enter the beta oxidation cycle to produce pyruvate. It can then begin the TCA cycle in the same way as before.
These processes produce chemicals known as:
1. NADH (from NAD+)
2. FADH2 (from FAD)
These then enter into a process known as oxidative phosphorylation to produce the all important chemical, adenosine triphosphate.
ATP is essential, and it can be derived from various different processes. Those listed above in this section are very important, and form the majority of energy-generating reactions.
How does my metabolism effect my weight?
In short, to increase your metabolism you must adapt your diet to a tried-and-tested programme. A trusted product such as The Day off Diet can help you achieve this (Read The Day off Diet review by clicking here) By increasing our metabolic rate (the rate at which fuel is burned for energy) we are effectively turning our bodies into a fat-fighting furnace!
This is where the myth about 'not eating' to lose weight hits a brick wall. By skipping meals, your body realizes that it has not had any intake of fuel. So this must mean my body starts to burn off existing fat? This is correct, to an extent. Your body will revert to burning stored energy (fat) in order to maintain its working state. However, it's not all good news. Your body becomes aware that it may not receive fuel on a regular basis and so naturally, our bodies prepare for survival. Our metabolic rate slows down, and we burn less calories per day than we would if we were consistently taking in smaller amounts of fuel.
Food & Drink that speed up your Metabolism
Increase your metabolism by adjusting your diet.
Jalapenos and other chili's
Dark Green, leafy vegetables (E.g. spinach)
White Fish
Black Coffee
It is recommended that you do not exceed 3 cups of coffee per day.
Green Tea
3-5 cups a day can burn up to 70 calories extra per day.
Ice cold Water
Your body expends calories having to heat this up to your bodies temperature.
