The Best Batman is still Michael Keaton!

Michael Keaton played the first Batman on the big screen in 1989 and Batman Returns in 1992. Keaton's style plus Burtons directing created magic. It was another big screen series that fumbled the ball and confirms the need for multi-year contracts to assure that our favorite comic book characters are not screwed with.

Other who have played big screen Batman and failed miserably: Val Kilmer and George Clooney (the latter being the absolute worst)

I do give props to the new resurgence with Christian Bale but he is a bit wooden for my liking. All work and no play makes The Caped Crusader a dull bat.

Bale is great, but keaton plays a brooding Bruce Wayne far better than bales irritating version. also tim burtons directing coupled with danny elfmans haunting score really made the first batman a classic. keaton also has a better mouth for batman. bale looks like he is wearing lipstick most of the time. i do love the new ones but the old ones still have their place.

Keaton is not only the best he is so far ahead of anyone else that has attempted the role since. I find Bale comical and ridiculous. He tries way too hard. Keaton's Batman is timeless

KEATON played the best performance as true batman.
He showed the psycological charactersitics of batman as it should be. Bale on the otherhand shows too much of a stiff "one-sided" tough man character does not play justice to batman character. Keaton is naturally has the gifted personality skill for batman.

Of course its true keaton played bruce as he appears to the outside world (dizzy absentminded reclusive millionaire), Bruce as he really is (incredibly serious to the point of obsessesd but with a burning intelligence to his actions and demeanor)and Batman (almost dead like stare emotionless and seems as crazy as the villains) n
no other actor has successfully dont it since val kilmer was to serious throughout his movie, cloony was too lighthearted and bale was too wooden as bruce and to uncompftable as batman in the suit.

Keaton is great as Batman, as is Bale, but Bale is TERRIBLE as Bruce Wayne. Keaton is excellent as both, playing both Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight effectively with a balance no one else has matched. You have to be both to be the best Batman, so Keaton's still the real Batman!
