The best way to get around Grand Haven, Michigan in the summer is by way of the trolley. The Harbor Trolley operates every day from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day and offers a narrated tour of the area.

Are you into kiteboarding or snowkiting? 1 & 2 hour Lessons are available through Mackinaw Kite Company, 106 Washington Ave., Grand Haven. Kite Camp is held on Monday and Tuesday weekly throughout the summer. These 2 day camps are the ideal way to become a kite boarder. 3 hour Snow Kiting lessons are also offered during winter months.

How about experiencing the adventure and romance of sailing in the sea-faring tradition of a 63' double gaff-rigged schooner? The Wind Dancer Schooner Charters departs from One South Harbor on the Grand Haven Boardwalk and offers daily wind jamming sails, sunset sails and unique charter on the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan. Or maybe you would be interested in picking up some of the big salmon that grace our waters. There are many charters available for fishing Lake Michigan.

Think a Michigan vacation getaway has to take place in the summer months? Well not in Grand Haven. If skiing or cross-country skiing is your cup of tea, this is a family vacation spot for you. If you have not experienced the icebergs of Lake Michigan in the winter you have missed a great wonder. It is not unusual to see people walking these icebergs in the winter months. They are quite breathtaking.

With the many rental cottages and bed and breakfast inns, finding lodging is not too difficult. Some of the resorts right in town do book up fast, but there are many along the Lake Michigan coastline. Maybe a more quiet remote location is for you. It is pretty active right in town. Downtown Grand Haven rarely sleeps in the summer months.

January 13th 2008, the Detroit Auto Show begins at the Cobo Hall in Detroit. This a a fun Michigan family vacation. The International North American Auto Show rocks in more ways than one.

I may not be a big car buff but I do look for that Michigan family vacation at the Detroit Auto Show. It is almost a carnival like atmosphere there. It is hard not to get swept up with all the glits and glamour that the auto show exudes.

This is my husbands birthday time and the whole family plans this trip every year and has a blast. The crowds are enormous, but eveyone is having so much fun with all the concept stuff and the shows being put on by the auto manufacturers that it is a fun mob scene.

This may not sound like a Michigan family vacation spot that everyone would enjoy, but trust me they do. If you get an opportunity I would definitely recommend the Detroit Auto Show.

The 2008 National Pro Hill Climb, hosted by the Muskegon Motorcycle Club, will be held at the infamous Mount Garfield in Muskegon, home to the first ever National Pro Hill Climb.

This years headliner will be Travis Tritt with special guest appearance of Grand Funk Railroad.
