Mike's Lensography - About Me, My Family and My Lenses
Inside this lens you will find all of my lenses nicely categorized for your convenience. I hope you take a few seconds to stop by one or two of them and leave a comment. I love hearing your opinions. In fact, when I see a new guestbook entry pop up in my inbox, I rush right over to read it. I think that's part of the addiction associated with Squidoo.
I'll also post some pictures of me and my family. You'll also get a chance to learn a bit more about me. I will write about my likes, dislikes and opinions as they pop into my unorganized head.
I hope you enjoy your stay. Let's get down to business!

A Little Bit about Me
In case you're wondering, that's me on the far right, my wife Corrina beside me and our friends Danielle and Chris. It's tough finding pictures for this lens, since I hate having my picture taken. Most of the ones in this lens were forced on me by Corrina. Funny how that works, huh?Okay, let's see...I'm 32 years of age. I was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, but grew up in Woodbridge. At the age of twelve, we moved to Cambridge, where I currently reside.
I first started working at the age of twelve. Besides working at my dad's shop sweeping floors, my first job was at the Waikiki as a bus-boy. I later moved up in the world working at various jobs for minimum wage. I've been a roofer and labourer. The longest job I ever worked at was as a courier. I did that for ten years, while I raised my family.
About a year ago I quit my courier job to write full-time. I had been writing part time after I got home each night, steadily building up my client base, learning the ropes and getting valuable experience. Because I was working two jobs, working unbelievably long hours and being a father at the same time, I suffered through what the doctors called, Labyrinth Ear. Basically, it felt like someone had twirled me around really fast, and left me standing there dizzy. It was hard to walk, I couldn't drive and it was difficult to think straight. The doctor said it was stress related, so I took the time off work to evaluate my life. It was during that time that I decided to quit my driving job and make a go at writing for a living.
I found Squidoo through my writing. I had clients ask me whether I could write a Squidoo lens. What was that, I asked? And so my curiosity got the best of me, which it often does, and I decided to check Squidoo out. Now I'm hopelessly addicted.
Why I Love Squidoo
I'm a full-time ghostwriter. That means that people hire me to write their copy and then put their names on it. I love Squidoo because it gives me a place where I can do what I love (writing) but do it on any topic I desire. I also enjoy writing short stories for the heck of it, and have managed to have quite a few published in various magazines, anthologies and online magazines.I'm a bit of a lone-wolf. I have no problem being by myself, although I don't know what I'd do without my family. My wife is amazing, and without her support I never would have found the courage to quit my driving job to follow my dream of becoming a full-time ghostwriter. I could fill pages singing her praises, but suffice to say that she's my moon and my stars. I love her dearly.
What's not to love? I mean, look at her hanging in that tree like a monkey!
I became a father at the age of seventeen. It was a tough road at times, but my kids are worth it. Yes, they drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them to death. Becoming a father really showed me what is important in life. In fact, fatherhood changed the way I view the world, and for that I'll always be thankful.
I have a lot of different interests, and I love to learn new things. I'm constantly reading books, but lately I've really enjoyed checking out other peoples' lenses on Squidoo. It's amazing how much knowledge can be found within Squidoo's hallowed pages.
The Squidoo community is another reason why I love Squidoo. The people here are always striving to improve. Many of them have visited my lenses, rated them and left kind comments. I try to return the favour as often as possible, by critiquing lenses at SquidU. The people there are fantastic.
At the moment, my goal is to become a Giant Squid. Hopefully I can achieve this goal by June. However, if it takes longer, so be it. Either way, I'll enjoy my journey here on Squidoo, meet new people and learn things along the way.
Quote from Storm Jameson
Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.
