StorageMart Minnesota Self Storage

The Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota, is located in the Midwestern region of the United States, way up top. It is the second Northern most state in America, trumped only by Alaska. Minnesota has a total population of around five million residents. You would suppose that they would be fairly evenly distributed amongst the 80,000 plus square miles that the state is comprised of, but that assumption would be incorrect. Instead, sixty percent of the entire population of Minnesota lives in the Twin Cities area of St. Paul and Minneapolis, which comprises just over six thousand square miles.

The Twin Cities area is a widely known and applauded International art community and is also a mecca of business and industry, including the transportation industry. Some of the world's most influential fine art museums are located in the Twin Cities area, further establishing St. Paul and Minneapolis as well respected champions for the arts. The Twin Cities are also home to highly regarded orchestras and other musical ensembles that regularly perform throughout the area. There are professional theater troupes, improvisational and comedy groups and professional dance troupes in the area as well. Active participation in the arts is high in Minnesota. In fact, New York is the only state in America that has more theater seats, evidence that the performing arts are more than just a passing fancy for Minnesota residents.

Perhaps turnout for theater, musicals and comedy events is so high because of the number of well educated people in Minnesota. It could be that the bitter cold winter weather entices people to engage in indoor activities, or the fact that Minnesota has a stable economy. It could be a combination of the three. One thing is for sure, Minnesota residents don't sit home bored on the weekends. In warmer weather, various festivals are held annually, bringing people out into the streets for dancing, music, craft fairs, street theater, puppet shows and more. These festivals are a high draw for Minnesota residents, who are, by nature, active people.

They are such active people, in fact, that Minnesotans ranked in the top 1 percent of states who regularly engaged in exercise. Minnesotans are active, healthy people; some of the healthiest in the Nation, having the second highest life expectancy in America, too. What, exactly do Minnesotans do to keep so fit and trim? Outdoor recreation is a predominant factor in the health of Minnesota residents, and the 10,000 lakes for which the state was given its nickname offer residents more than enough in the way of natural playgrounds.

Many Minnesota families have weekend cabins that they frequent, enjoying hiking, water skiing, boating, canoeing and especially fishing. In fact, almost 40 percent of Minnesota residents enjoy the sport of fishing. The only other state that has more recreational fishing is Alaska. StorageMart, a leading self storage company, is available to Minnesota residents for snowmobile and bike storage, as well as storage of other kinds of sporting equipment such as fishing gear. Consolidating equipment makes it easier to remember where everything is. StorageMart makes finding the perfect self storage unit a breeze.

What do Minnesotans do in the dead of winter? They still go outside. Ice hockey is huge, as is ice fishing. Far be it from the fishing enthusiasts to simply pack up and stop for the winter. Other popular winter sports are broom ball, snow shoeing and snowmobiling, with nearly 20,000 miles of snowmobiling trails throughout the state. Of course sledding is popular with the kids, and many grown ups, too. Minnesota's 72 state parks are a beautiful outlet for year round camping and hunting. People who live in Minnesota enjoy the outdoors as much as they can. In fact, Minnesota also has more bicycle trails than any other place in America.

As far as agriculture goes, Minnesota is the nation's top producer of sugar beets and also sweet corn. Minnesota is also relied upon for its turkey farms. Forestry is still very prevalent here, and over four million acres of forest means enough trees are available to keep the logging industry going. Minnesota wears many hats, from International art mecca to sugar beet capital of the U.S. It truly is one of the country's most unique states.

Hopkins, Minnesota is a small suburban area that is situated West of Minneapolis. The population is less than 20,000 but it is growing. Hopkins doesn't really stand out all that much except for the fact that it has broken two world records. The first, many years ago, was for the world's tallest water tower, and the second was for the highest number of bars per person. Though these quirky facts are interesting, they do not necessarily speak to the quaint, small town community that prides itself on its raspberry festival each year, or its outdoor ice rinks and warming houses. Hopkins, Minnesota is the home of StorageMart on Excelsior Blvd. StorageMart offers great savings and friendly service on all self storage needs in the Hopkins area.
