Perhaps turnout for theater, musicals and comedy events is so high because of the number of well educated people in Minnesota. It could be that the bitter cold winter weather entices people to engage in indoor activities, or the fact that Minnesota has a stable economy. It could be a combination of the three. In warmer weather, various festivals are held annually, bringing people out into the streets for dancing, music, craft fairs, street theater, puppet shows and more. Many Minnesota families have weekend cabins that they frequent, enjoying hiking, water skiing, boating, canoeing and especially fishing. In fact, almost 40 percent of Minnesota residents enjoy the sport of fishing. The only other state that has more recreational fishing is Alaska. Minnesota wears many hats, from International art mecca to sugar beet capital of the U.S. It truly is one of the country's most unique states.

Hopkins, Minnesota is a small suburban area that is situated West of Minneapolis. The population is less than 20,000 but it is growing. Hopkins doesn't really stand out all that much except for the fact that it has broken two world records. The first, many years ago, was for the world's tallest water tower, and the second was for the highest number of bars per person. Though these quirky facts are interesting, they do not necessarily speak to the quaint, small town community that prides itself on its raspberry festival each year, or its outdoor ice rinks and warming houses.
