I had it fitted 4 month ago and have had water and pelivc infection and I can hardly move and but lots of weight

Hi There,
I am so glad i came across this site, as this seems to be the most up to date, I am really looking for some advice please ladies,

I had my Mirena fitted on 28\08\2009 I must admit i didnt do a great deal of research into it before i had it done, i just trusted what the Doctors advice, As i dont have any children and i didnt want any either, However I have noticed so many changes in myself since having it and i've gone back numerous times to tell them about these changes.

one day i'm up the next i'm down, I put on loads of weight! (although I dont eat properly anyway). so proabaly cant fully blame the Mirena.

I have had the same sexual partner now for the last 2 years he's not overly endowed however he isnt small either and during sexual intercourse the pain i experience is emmense!!! it makes me not want to carry on it hurts so much and takes all the enjoyment out of it . Once the pain was so severe that i had to stop, it made me phyically sick and i was on the bathrrom floor in so much pain and no matter if i've experienced pain during the sex i bleed heavily after and for a few days!!! Has anyone else experienced this? Sex isnt meant to be painful right???

Another thing i have noticed which bothers me daily is hair growth and i dont mean on my head either !!!!! :( I seem to be getting them on my chin, neck, breast areas and the fair hair on my face is a little to excessive for my liking too !!! Again has anyone else experienced this? I'm a young looking 30 year old with facial hair !!!!!

acne oh yes i have that to, feeling down and energyless all the time, painful stabbing pains in 1 side, bacterial vaginosis (BV) had that more times than i can remember !!!! I cant be bothered to get out of bed somedays, :S !!!! again not normal actions of a 30 year old!!!!!

Recently i have ungone a number of tests at the doctors and hospial and finally i have been told that i have Polycistic ovaries ???? still unsure what this is as the print out the doctor gave me was half missing,

All he did say to me was it is because i'm clinicly obese that's the reason behind my excess hair and my pcos ??? :s I am 5ft 6 half inces big frame,,,, i was 15 st 11 in january this year i am now 13st 6 ( hardly obese is it???) i have been trying to loose weight for myself anyway as my confidence has gone, but a friend of mine has it to and shes a size 8 so i'm more than confussed !!!

I have been to my doctors several times and expressed my on going concerns but nothing has been suggested or done. i am due to see the nurse again today at 3 so i guess i will just have to see what she thinks wish me luck, Thanks for reading and any advice greatly appreciated love sj xxxx

I love the Mirena. Only problems I've had are benign ovarian cysts and amenorrhea. *shrug*

I had never gained weight without modifying my diet, I have had changes in my digestion, I feel bloated all the time and evidently, after reading about other women's problems, even my mood swings are related to Mirena. Making my appointment to have it removed ASAP.

I had mirena fitted in Jan 2012 following a D&C for endometriosis. As I am 50 I thought this would be a good way to enter menopause. I bled every week for the first 3 months. I have a total loss of libido and am now experiencing very tender breasts. My skin was never great, but I have a lot of small red spots on my face and on my chest. My weight has increased a bit but my lifestyle has also changed since the surgery - lower energy levels so I cannot be sure if the mirena is associated with the weight gain. The loss of libido is my biggest concern and will be my motivation to have it removed soon.

YES, I'VE HAD HORRIBLE CRAMPS, BEEN EXERCISING AND I CAN'T LOSE ANY WEIGHT, INSTEAD OF LOSING WEIGHT I'M GAINING. ANOTHER THING IS THAT I ALWAYS FEEL TIRED A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS IRRITATE ME I THINK I'M GETTING IT OUT. I'VE HAD IT FOR ABOUT TRHEE YEARS AND I THINK IS TIME.

not sure if this is a side effect or not but it truned me against ever getting an iud again after i had my 2nd child i got my mirena in at my 6week check up this was in oct 2011 and 5months after haveing it i started bleeding for 2 months and getting sharp pains in my sides so i went 2 the er they told me i had a cyst that was bleeding on the inside and that my iud was a bit low so they made me an appt with an ob-gyn 2 get my iud takein out and 2 get my cyst checked out the dr told me that it wouldnt hurt 1 bit getting it takein out well it did cuz when he went 2 take it out it was stuck in my cervix he pulled 2 or 3 times and it broke off so he had 2 do a block on my cervix if the didnt get it this time he was going 2 rush me 2 the OR he pulled on it another 10 time by then i was in so much pain i was ready 2 pass out then he got it ill Never Ever get antoher iud

I have now had 2 mirenas, I experienced extreme mood swings and was told by my doctors that there was no way that this could be caused by the mirena!!! I have only just started researching the side effects.......well I can honestly say that I was always around 50kg and didn’t need to exercise or diet to maintain my weight and it had never been an issue, however since then I have been at times up to 78kg!!!and find it pretty much impossible to get under 60kgs, I have been to my doctor on many occasions and asked why I cannot lose the extra weight and asked if my hormone levels could be cheeked, the doctor made me feel silly for blaming weight on hormones, I have tried diet pills, extreme exercise, and I can honestly say that I eat very healthy as a preference, in the end I had to put it down to age and having 2 kids. I have also had major back pain to the point where I have been diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome, My mood swings for the first 6 months of having both mirenas was almost unbearable, I have experienced hair growth in the neck chin area, sore breasts, I am heading to the doctor today in the hope of having it removed, I am concerned as to what contraception’s are risk free, might have to just rely on condoms.
