Mama Africa - Miriam Makeba

I am saying IS rythm even if she now is dead. She still represents a special kind of joy for me!

She has brought so much music joy to me and my family and friends. My son once said: If I ever find the place where she is singing on the streets, I will move there!

When she was performing and singing Pata Pata she died shortly afterword.

Miriam Makeba died the 10th of November 2008
But her music will never die!

Mandela mourns icon Miriam Makeba
Former South African President Nelson Mandela has paid tribute to singing legend Miriam Makeba, who has died aged 76 after a concert in Italy.

She was the "mother of our struggle" and "South Africa's first lady of song", Mr Mandela said.

Makeba became a symbol of the fight against apartheid and spent three decades abroad after South Africa's government revoked her passport.

Mr Mandela said her haunting melodies gave voice to the pain of exile.
