Mitchell Katz Winery

Livermore Valley Wine Country

Established in 1998, Mitchell Katz Winery is best known for single-vineyard wines that capture the temperament of each vineyard. Careful selection and hand-harvesting of grapes are key to this approach. By using barrels for both fermentation and aging, the resulting wines are exceptional for their flavor, richness and intensity. Mitchell Katz Winery has amassed an impressive collection of vineyards to capture the true varietal character of premium wines.

Mitchell Katz Wine Tasting

1188 Vineyard Avenue, Pleasanton

The Mitchell Katz winery is located in the same spot where Ruby Hill Winery once adorned the landscape with its grand, red-brick building. The original 1887 structure was destroyed in a fire in November 1989, but many bricks and keystones found new life in an architectural replica built on the site. The roomy and beautifully appointed tasting room provides a comfortable and interesting environment for visitors to mingle and experience a variety of Mitchell Katz wines.

Open Thursday-Sunday from Noon to 5pm

I purchased this book at one of the wine festivals, and even had it signed by the authors. Don't worry if you're not into quilting... it's worth adding to your library for the photos alone. Several Livermore Valley wineries are featured, including Thomas Coyne Winery, Livermore Valley Cellars, Fenestra Winery, Wente Vineyards, and artwork by Darcie Kent.
