Mix Fest 2008

MIX loves featuring up & coming singer songwriters, and this year it's Matt Nathanson. He grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts so he was back on home turf for MixFest. He's now a California guy, but we won't hold that against him. ;)

His music has been featured in the movie American Pie, on the shows Private Practice, Scrubs, and One Tree Hill, and he was named Best National Male Vocalist at last year's Boston Music Awards.

The very first time I heard one of his songs on the radio (I was in Maine of all places) I knew I needed to create a lyrics lens for it. And that's what I did as soon as I got home. Less than a month later I found out he was on the lineup for MixFest...w00t!

Jordin Sparks has been singing since she was a mere 18 months old. It's no wonder that at age 17, she became American Idol's youngest winner to date. The winner of American Idol Season 6, Jordin went on to hit the Top 10 with her first 3 singles; Tattoo, No Air, and One Step at a Time. Her self-titled debut album had already gone gold, and her sophomore album is came out in November.

Miss McLachlan is one of the superstars whose music helped get MIX 98.5 to the top of the ratings in Boston, and I'm sure they are glad to have her back. I know I am!

Rock Icon Bryan Adams has sold 65,000,000+ records worldwide with 6 platinum albums and 17 Top Ten hits (including four at #1) to his name. His career spans 30 years. He signed with A&M Records in 1978 and his debut album Bryan Adams was released in 1980.

I still have my Waking Up the Neighbours tape, yes, cassette tape....I'm old, and yes, that's the correct spelling...Mr. Adams is Canadian. ;) I got it after seeing the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves as the song (Everything I Do) I Do It for You from the movie's soundtrack is on that album.

(And, did you know he was a serious photographer? Like, crazy good. I'm not sure where I've been that I've only now found this out.)

Finger Eleven is a Canadian alternative rock band that's been together since 1994. The quintet is comprised of Scott Anderson (vocals), Sean Anderson (bass), Rich Beddoe (drums), and James Black & Rick Jackett on guitars.
