Mobility Scooters: Is a Mobilty Scooter Right For You?
Many disabled people prefer mobility scooters to wheelchairs, for one reason. Scooters look more like small motorcyles than wheelchairs and thus are less "stigmatizing". But a power wheelchair has a major advantage to a mobility scooter in that it is much more maneuverable and so is much easier to use indoors or in tight places.

Are Mobility Scooters A Danger?
Should Mobility Scooter Drivers Be Licensed?
Mobility scooters are more dangerous than you think. Unfortunately, there are many mobility scooter accidents. Mobility scooters are frequently hit by cars and mobility scooters frequently hit pedestrians. In some countries there is pressure to have mobility scooter drivers licensed.
What are your thoughts on this subject?
Do you think that mobility scooter drivers should be licensed?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byNo, mobility scooters aren't so dangerous. No license should be required.
Papier says:
I don't think they go fast enough to be as much of a hazard as those new scooters the kids and teens are using, and nothing like the problem of bicycles on the sidewalks.

If you force a licence for a mobilirt scooter then you will have to do the same for bicyles, scooters are the feet of a mobility restricted disabled person, just like a seeing eye dog is the eyes for a blind person. Yoy cannot removed refuse a abled bodied person the use of his or her feet so why can we feel we have the right to refuse the a mobility restricted person from his or her mobility freedom through the use of a wheelchair or scooter.
I believe common sense should prefail on driving anything rather that be a bicycle or a scooter. Because of very limited mobility I use a scooter / wheelchair, and I seen more issues with able bodied people rather that be walking traffic or vehicle traffic, it may be surprising on how many vehicles block ramps at intersections and even moving the vehicle and blocking the way when you are part way across the intersection cross walk, how many people strand on the sidewalk and do not want to move out of the way when there is only one spot that has a ramp onto the sidewalk, and you basically have to nudge you way onto it to get people to move as staying on the road is not an option when the traffic light is about to change.
Now scooters and wheelchairs can often be lower than vehicles and sometimes the vehicle drivers are not paying attention enough to spot them
Also a lot of scooters / wheelchairs do not have lights on them, and on that item perhaps just like bicycles scooters and wheelchairs should be requried to have lighting on them at night and I would support that, it makes them easier to spot.
