This article is intended mostly for younger individuals with dreams of becoming a model someday. However, the advice and material updated in this article can also be intended for anyone that is interested in what exactly you must do to look your best in a short period of time. Here you will learn some of the exact processes(diet, exercise, discipline) that go into preparing for a photo shoot. Chuck does this process himself each and every time to look his best in the shortest amount of time.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*In the diet section, this is a sample list of foods to eat to get started. There are much more variations which will be included at a later date*
**If under 18, be sure to ask a parent or guardian before using any supplements offered as advice on this website**

When you look at a billboard ad of a model while waiting for your taxi in New York City, do you ever wonder what some of the preparation methods they do to get ready for the photo? If your a young person with aspirations of someday being that person on the billboard ad, or in the magazines, this article is for you. One of the reasons I feel blessed to be a male fitness/fashion model is to be able to give directions and hope for younger generations....something I never had. Like pro sports players, male or female, hold camps to teach the young, I want to help kids that wish to be models someday. With this article, you will have a realistic view and an edge from someone who has already done it for you.

P.S- This isn't only for kids with dreams of being a model. This is also for anyone of any age that wishes to maintain a consistent weight, and to look the healthiest and best they can.Visit my website to learn 4 supplements I use all year round, and not just before shoots.

***Remember, modeling is different than bodybuilding in preparation. With bodybuilding, you get an "off season" and a date to get back to your process to look your best at a certain date. With modeling, you must look consistent and good all year round. Shoots can be on call with a few days notice. This preparation is your guide to immediate nutrition to look your best.***

Pre Photo Shoot Sample Diet Station
This is the diet I follow when leading up to a modeling shoot.
I am a firm believer that anything you cannot have, you want more. This holds true in dieting. The only problem is, usually what you can't have is not realistic to obtain anyway. So you can move on and work towards it without it being readily available.
With dieting, some of these things that you can't have are READILY available. You will suffer more because you could easily just give in and go into your junk food closet.
Substitution is where you do not completely cut out something you can't have. You simply go with something similar that can get you by, but the healthier option.
Ya Dig?
Here is a list of foods I ONLY eat leading up to a shoot. This is usually a week out, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter depending on notice.
This also will work for anything; Weddings, beach, wave pool, big date, anniversary, reunion, for the heck of it. You get the idea:-)
IMPORTANT: There is NO cut and dry diet that will work for you the same as others. This I found works for my body. You will need to switch it up(cycling carbs-try high carbs one day, then drop it 50, then drop it 50 the next day and so on) until you notice which is working, and you will notice.
These are foods you should be mixing around in your diet, and it is up to you to include them. I included the key because WHEN you eat something is just as crucial as WHAT you eat. You can experiment here, even if it's one at a time. Start adding cottage cheese to your diet before bedtime and cut out carbs before 8 P.M completely as an example. This little bit is enough to improve greatly, and then move on to something else, eat 2 servings of almonds and a banana with a few eggwhites for breakfast every morning for a while. This is easy and more effective then completely changing the way you eat, only because doing this will be an overload and you have a higher chance of quitting the program.
Enjoy!
Key:
Morning- M
Before Workout- BW
After Workout- AW
Before Bed-BB
Snack-S
- 14 whole almonds(100 calories worth) - M,S,BB
- 1 Banana- M,S
- 1 Cup Instant Oatmeal- M,BW,AW,S(I just eat it raw right out of the box, nice and quick)
- Red Grapefruit- M,S (Don't eat after 8 P.M)
- Protein bar or shake- BW, AW(See Supplement Station)
- 2 Lean Chicken Breast-AW(dinner), 1 Breast-S, *Only boiled or grilled* KFC doesn't count;-) or KGC.
- 1 Cup Low Fat Cottage Cheese- BB, S(This is KEY to eat before bed everynight)
- Salad-AW or Lunch, Not After 8 P.M.-Fast Food grilled chicken salad is OK. But remove croutons and use vinegar dressing. **NO Fat Food Dressing Options**
- Eggs-M,BW,S- only the whites. Hard broiled and remove yolk. Eat 2 at a time.
- Fish-AW and Dinner, Lunch Also. No Fried or Battered. Sushi or grilled only!
- Asparagus- Lunch, AW Don't Eat After 8 P.M. Grilled. Great for releasing extra water skin retention.
- Steak- AW/Dinner - Cooked however you like( I like medium rare:-). NO STEAK SAUCE!

Snack-S
**These Specific Supplements Can and Should Be Used By Men AND Women**
- Optimum Nutrition Amino 2200 Pills-M,AW,S,BB(These pills are huge, so get the liquid if you can't swallow regular sized pills easily. *Men and Women*
-
Grape Seed Extract 300 mg
- M (Men and Women) This is a good antioxidant and preserves muscle from being destroyed by free radicals. - Multi-Vitamin- M(I use beverly international, but there are GNC sport paks for women and lots others for men. **This is not for just before a shoot or for a short term goal, this is taken every single day.**
- Cayenne Fruit Capsule-BW Also an additional capsule of 40,000 STU of heat from the cayenne will heat your body up more to raise metabolism and burn more calories. If you feel too hot, your not drinking enough water. :-)
- Protein/Carb Drink-AW,S I use unflavored protein powder and mix 20-30 grams inside a 20 oz Gatorade to drink after workout. If I run out of gatorade, just mix it in any liquid you have. This is important to do at least twice a day, once after your workout.
Cardio Program of a Male Model
listen up!
Cardio is mandatory to burn fat and show the hard earned lean muscle you produced. Now this is going to be mostly on you to figure out what works best. Two keys,
1. jogging for long periods of time is better for burning fat NOW. However, you must keep protein high to keep your body from burning muscle, which it will if your diet is off.
2. interval cardio(sprinting full speed and walking slowly as a break) is better for increasing overall metabolism LATER.
Obviously, it's good to mix up both. Here is an example of my cardio program.
** I only do cardio for a shirtless shoot as diet and weight training usually is enough. I'll do this about anywhere from 2-4 weeks before a shoot, depends on when I find out I have it. You can do this all of the time, just remember you will lose some muscle size if too much.
***doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach is your best bet to burning the most fat, as your metabolism is highest then. I don't do this. Quite frankly, two times in the gym in one day is too much and I get lazy later on. I do it right after my weight training always.
4 days of the 5 per week I am at the gym, I will do 1-1.5 miles on the Elipt. machine. 1.5 for me works best, as in no time, my abs will start to come out fast. Remember to drink plenty of water, lots and lots.
the 5th day I do interval sprints on pavement. If you can do it on a treadmill without feeling like your gonna fly off, be my guest.
you will do 7 sets of sprints.( I mean full out sprints, nothing but as fast as you can go, imagine being chased by a crazy person) :->
You will do 20 seconds of sprinting and 40 seconds of walking slowly. each minute passed is a set, do this 7 times. You're done. That's it. Sounds like a little bit, but you should be pretty pooped if you sprinted full speed every time.
Like I said, I don't need much cardio for my metabolism is very high from a few years of making it that way.
So you may need more, that's ok. Just start off doing a set amount of miles or sets and don't change it in any less time than a week. Once a week is over, look at yourself, feel tighter? See more muscle? If not, the next week, up it a half mile and a couple sets. As soon as you realize there is a change and you're looking better, you hit the note. The hard work is over, now do that program consistently.
Hope this helps, I'm positive it will if diet and exercise is on of course.

- Hey Hampton. Good to hear man. Cottage cheese is good before bed just because it's a slow releasing protein that lasts long enough in your system til you wake up. Any casein protein is fine, they make powders to drink too. If you go to bed on an empty stomach, your body could be using up muscle you work hard for so it's important to get some casein in your system before bed to protect this from happening. It's pretty noticeable after a little while of doing it.

- Hey, you seem like a very determined down to earth guy. I myself want to be a male model as a career. I have my first big modeling this Friday, black Friday at hollister co. In the mall. I wil be a shirtless greater. I was signed through abercrombie and fitch to do it. I am about 6 foot, 175 lbs. I have very good muscle mass, esp. Chest. And pretty good deffinition in my abs. I guess I'm getting at what can I do to make myself better than the next guy and become a male fitness model. I am just as conscious about my diet, as my workoutplan. Also I use to use creatine, but for me my body bloat off creatine. Even protein powders. By the way I am 18, senior in high school. Thanks man for any help. I'm going to be like you some day. - hey chuck, i'm curious about the diet leading up to a photo shoot. I want to be able to look as lean and ripped as much as possible but be able to preserve my muscle as well. Also what are the workouts like leading up to a photo shoot are you still lifting relatively heavy. When should you start preparing and start to change the workout and diet, how many weeks out ? i would appreciate it if you got back to me . my email is apep.pitsilia@yahoo.ca

- I'm a 15 year old girl. I do road races, cross country, track, and am working up to a marathon. I have also done tons of research and have changed my diet quite a bit over the past few years. Now the only processed foods I have are pretty much peanut butter, and.... that's pretty much it. I'm not overly restrictive with my diet and am not suffering in any way; I just don't crave junk food anymore. It doesn't really register as food. :)
Despite how much I exercise, I still have a lot of adominal fat, as well as my arms and glutes. I seem to gain weight relatively easily, but I was in amazing shape last year. Then I was hit by a car while running last fall and gained about 5-7 pounds. When I resumed running in the spring, I lost a few, maybe three(?) pounds, though I CAN NOT LOSE THE EXCESS WEIGHT! I am very dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and I love it, so I'd like to be in the best shape possible.
Do you have any suggestions? I know you're a male fitness model, but do you know of any reason why this could be?
Thanks!

- I'm a 15 year old (turning 16 later this week though) living in england considering doing fitness modeling alongside school. I keep pretty fit and lean but I'm not a fan of bodybuilding, I was wondering to be in the kind of business do you have to have huge muscles, or is it more just being lean and defined (obviously with some pretty decent muscles). Also, is it possible to do alongside school or is it more of a full-time devotion.
And (last question i promise :P) how do you actually get into the business?

The BIG Picture
As if you didn't know...

As you know, being a male model and having the body that is required to become one takes time, dedication(IMPORTANT), patience, organization, timing, luck, and the HEART to really really want it bad.
Lastly, you must LIKE doing it, or you will fail. If you don't like doing it, your body won't be fooled and your body won't get lean while mentally stressed out.
This picture of me is meant to show that even though I isolate my mind and body to improve my physique, you can still see that I LOVE doing this.
I'm hiding nothing also, I love helping people(especially kids) the best I can. This page is here for that.
Regardless of what you're here for whether it be; male model workouts, male model diets, motivation, inspiration, to learn for free, toning up, getting lean, losing fat, helping your children become something bigger than yourself, ANYTHING this could intertwine with really.
