A Man Armed With Two Dollar Bills Launches His Own Stimulus Package Saving Moms in Alabama

I just read a press release about a man named Danny Cotrell. Danny lives in a small Alabama town and thought it would be a great idea if he, the boss, would distribute his own version of a stimulus package this March of 09.
He decided to give out $16000 as extra cash distributed to all his employees in the town pharmacy in $300 and $700 portions. His only conditions were that 15 percent of it would go to needy families, and that the rest would be spent on the local shops. No one complained. Also it was all given in $2 bills. This made it easier to track and shop owners across the city begun to feel warm and happy when an influx of $2 bills came their way.

The $2 dollar bilIs became a symbol of hope. I think that it was an excellent idea to spread joy like that, both to be a warm hearted person-- as well as a good way to keep their town alive and financially healthy.

But the message I get out of is that we're not all going to go to economic hell.
And we don't need to wait for somebody to give us a symbol like the $2 bill in the Alabama town. We can do it ourselves.

Nor do we have to wait for somebody else to hand us money...

A Life Changing Decision

My friend, a preacher, told me the story of how he and his family weren't always well off. Originally he planned on becoming a professional baseball player. But one day he reached a turning point in his life and decided he would follow his sudden calling of becoming a minister.

His mom told him that he would starve with a career like that. Of course she was only worried about him; at that time all the preachers' mom knew were poor earners.

But he said "No, I will be a minister and I will not starve." But for the first couple of years he was getting by just barely. At one point he was living with a food budget of only $10 a week, at this time his wife was already a mom, which made the situation not too bright for them.

And he still thanked God for the tomatoes and loaf of bread he was able to buy. He never lost his faith or gave up even when he thought he had reached the end.

He took responsibility for his own finances knowing that a miracle wasn't just going to fall on his lap like some would expect. And today he has gotten his teachings and preaching on television. He attributes a lot of his success to God, and secondly to that decision he made of changing profession and taking charge. He never looked back.

Reality Check: Hundreds of Thousands Are Losing Their Jobs Every Month!

The Myth of Job Security

This page is all about inspiration, but I'm not going to just fill you up with positive thinking promises. The reality is that moms and dads are losing their jobs everyday.

According to the U.S. Govt. Dept. of Labor, there were 2,227 mass layoff actions this past January of 2009. Each of those employers was putting at least 50 people out of a job.

That rounds off to be a lot, hundreds of thousands of people who lost their job just this January. It may not move you to just hear a statistic like that, but if you stopped to really see the magnitude of this, you see that its not just a number.

Its about real human beings, most of these people have families they will not be able to support if they don't find another way to bring in income.

The unemployment rate this January was 7.2 percent. Almost double of what it was last year.

The state who had the most lay offs was: California, followed by New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. It appears the most popular states are the ones being hit the hardest.

It looks to me that right now there's no such thing as job security no matter how important your job or title is. Already there is a wave of people that don't know how they're going to make it this year. But it doesn't have to be this Way!

This is the perfect time to start a business from scratch.

I would recommend to everyone the same thing that Robert Kiyosaki recommended in his book: look for other kinds of financial supply than just your job. You need to have financial security, and if you are lucky enough to still have your job you don't have to wait until you lose it to take some action.

Starting a business would be an excellent way of securing an extra stream of income, or an entire stream of income if you want.

Starting a business can be just what you were looking for. If you start an online business that's even better because your start up costs go down dramatically. With the technology we have available at this time it is possible to start a business right from your home on a shoe string budget (no strings needed).

Podcasting Moms Making Money Despite

Its true, its true

Even though there's a recession going around that doesn't mean there isn't anything good going on. And if we focus on the good things that are going on we have a better chance of thriving during these times.

Two hardworking people that are having success with their home based "business" are Gretchen Volgenzang and her friend Paige Heninger. These two moms are money making moms that everyone can be inspired by.

At first glance they look like regular moms, and I'm sure that they are. But in the house with one spare bedroom these two moms have a show for moms where they share their enthusiasm and experiences about being mothers.

Their main priorities are their children, so they don't want to make it too lucrative of a business. Their audience is sizeable enough to be sponsored by the Dixie cup company, so that's exciting.

The name of their weekly podcast/radio show is MommyCast. And if they can make something out of just a hobby in their spare time, imagine what you could do if you set your mind to something.
