Adsense Requires Correct Keyword Optimization
Correct keyword optimization begins in the file name of each page where you should include some of your keywords. Primary keywords should also be included in your page title and Meta title.
After this, your primary keywords should also be included in bold somewhere near the top of your page.
Scatter your primary keywords as well as other keywords related to your page throughout your content.
The reason for doing this is that Adsense uses keyword optimization to determine what ads to send to your website. If your website is correctly optimized for the right keywords then you will attract the right ads and will encourage a greater click through rate on your Adsense ads.
Adsense Requires Loads of Content
Try to use a number of different niche websites and then put as much content as possible into your sites.
Adding more sites will also give you more pages in the search engines and so make it easier for people to find you.
One of the simplest ways to do this is using Adsense-in-a-box businesses where the articles have been written for you or also using private label content. The disadvantage with these types of methods is that they can affect your search engine optimization negatively due to problems with duplicate content but if you need to get started quickly then it may be worth it.
The important thing is to have content and lots of it.

Test and Track Different Formats
On my website, Moms Working at Home I find that the large rectangle format at the top of the page works best. Occassionally I will get a few clicks on the link units but this performs the worst for me; the sidebar formats also bring in a few clicks but not as many as the large rectangle.
These results will not necessarily be the same on your website and so you need to use Adsense channels to determine which is working best for you. Your channels should describe your ad format and where it is. For example the large rectangle on my Living Naturally website will be LNLR (Living Naturally Large Rectangle) while the 728x15 link unit on my Crafty Content website will be CCLU72815.
You can create your own codes to determine what you need to with regards to your ad formats and should use this to get the best results from your website.

The Pros and Cons of Ready-made Adsense Websites
1. The first advantage of ready-made Adsense websites of course is that within minutes you could have a website up with a couple of hundred pages and so there is more opportunity for you to make money with Adsense because you have more pages.
2. The disadvantage with ready-made Adsense websites is the problem of duplicate content. This has become a big question on the internet with people feeling that duplicate content drives down search engine rankings and it certainly is not a good idea.
Personally I do use both but I have to say that probably 99% of my results are coming from my own unique websites even though they have a lot less content. Part of the reason for this though is also that I market my unique websites more thoroughly.
The website I linked to in the introduction to this lens is a ready-made Adsense website but I also have other lenses linking to my unique websites and I tend to do more marketing for them using other methods such as article marketing.
I think you need to work out what is going to work for you. If you do put up ready-made Adsense websites then be prepared to market them as vigorously (or more so) than you would your own unique websites. If you choose not to, then you are just going to need to do a lot more writing (or get someone else to do it for you).
