Moon Phase

Moon Phase is about a Japanese freelance photographer, Kouhei Morioka, who travels to Germany on a photography assignment for an occult magazine. His assignment is to photograph a supposedly haunted castle for paranormal phenomena. While photographing the castle, Kouhei meets up with Hazuki. Hazuki is a young royal vampire. When they meet Hazuki feeds on Kouhei's blood and tries to claim him as her servant. This "blood pact" is suppose to bind a human to a vampire as their obedient slave but unfortunately it has no effect on Kouhei (later in the series we find out that this is because Kouhei is the legendary "vampire lover".) Kouhei and his cousin manage to free Hazuki from her dreary castle with a sorcerer's battle. Hazuki then moves in with Kouhei and his grandfather in their home in Japan. Hazuki thinks that because she has fed on Kouhei's blood that she should be able to get him to do whatever she wants because he is her servant. Dispite what Hazuki thinks Kouhei continues to defy her, especially when he thinks that her requests get a bit riduculous. Even though the duo fight constantly they seem to form a bond over time. When Hazuki is captured by her family's vampire servants Kouhei vows to protect Hazuki by whatever means nescessary.

Hazuki

Bio: Hazuki is a selfish but adorable young vampire. Hazuki was separated from her mother and restrained in a castle in Germany. She escapes the castle with Kouhei's help and flees to Japan in search of her mother. A vampire's kiss, the act of drawing blood from a mortal, normally turns the mortal into the feeding vampire's unwilling servant, but Hazuki's attempt on Kouhei fails. According to the story line, Kouhei is narrated as "the vampire's lover," and therefore is immune to the binding power of Hazuki's vampiric "kiss." Despite her continuous claims that Kouhei is her slave and must obey her every command, Kouhei refuses to do so. Her family is desperate to retrieve her because she is actually a "daywalker", a vampire who, unlike others of her kind, can withstand sunlight. She is plagued by an alternate personality named Luna that was forced upon her by her vampire relatives to keep her under control.

Bio: Kouhei is a freelance photographer that specializes in paranormal photography dispite being able to see spirits himself. He is discribed by his family and friends as "spiritually retarded". Later in the series we discover that Kouhei is a "Vampire Lover", meaning that no vampire can make him their servant through blood pacts.

Ryuuhei Mido

Bio: Ryuuhei is Kouhei's grandfather. He and Kouhei live in Ryuuhei's shop in which he sells Japanese antiques and other fine goods. He is also an exorcist who agrees to take in Hazuki out of kindness.

Bio: Seiji is a powerful exorcist. He is also Kouhei's cousin. He has trained his entire life in spiritual things.

Haiji

Bio: Haiji is Hazuki's guardian spirit. Haiji originally belonged to Kohei's mother Chizuru, but the little spirit guardian lost most of her memories of Kohei's mother when she was reassigned to Hazuki. Her name was "Akuda" and she had the form of a cat when she belonged to Chizuru.

Count Heinrich von Kinkell

Bio: The Count is one of the minions that is in charge of getting Hazuki back to the castle in Germany. He is a powerful vampire that can bend light and that allows him to be a day walker.

Bio: Elfriede is the daughter of Count von Kinkell and she is also his slave. She is a vampire that can control monsters and other creatures. She was freed from her father's slavery when she drank from Kouhei's blood.

Hiromi Anzai

Bio: Hiromi is a childhood friend and co-worker of Kouhei's, assigning various photo jobs to him. Has a notable crush on Seiji. She is also a horrible driver. Her relationship with Hazuki is much like a doting older sister.

Hikaru and Kaoru Midou

Bios: Hikaru and Kaoru were pledged by their parents to marry Seiji and Kouhei. Both of these girls are younger than Hazuki. Hikaru is engaged to Seiji. She is the sister that is the more outgoing of the two. She constantly picks fights with Hazuki and she usually wins them. Kaoru on the other hand is more shy and timid. She is engaged to Kouhei.

Yayoi Midou

Bio: Yayoi is a very powerful exorcist. He becomes Kouhei's teacher when he decides to become and exorcist himself in order to protect Hazuki.

Artemis ("Arte")

Bio: Arte is Hazuki's younger sister. She is jealous of Hazuki because of the attention their family dedicates to her. Because of it Arte is determined to deprive Hazuki of everything and everyone she truly cares for, taking by force or destroying completely. In the series finale, she is taken into Morioka's family after the death of her guardian, Balgus. Kouhei manages to reach out to her and convinces her to open up to a new life with caring friends and family. She is a Shadow User.

1. Big Brother, Be My Slave

Kouhei's job shooting paranormal photography for the second rate tabloid, Occult Magazine, is driving him crazy. But as luck would have it, Kouhei has teh ability to penetrate through supernatural boundaries to capture the metaphysical... the only drawback? He can't sense clairvoyance himself! While on a shoot at Germany's Schwarz Quelle, an ancient castle plagued by the Black Death in the Middle Ages, Kouhei becomes mesmerized by the portrait of a beautiful, young girl. Yet she can't be photographed! What Kouhei doesn't know, is the seemingly innocent Hazuki is far from human... she's a vampire! And she's got bigger plans for Kouhei that have nothing to do with the click of his camera.

2. Call Me Mistress

While Hazuki manipulates Kouhei into being her slave, the persistent Vigo is using every once of his spiritual energy to stop her. But before he can put the fire out on Hazuki's desires, he must wage a spiritual battle with Kouhei;s cousin Seiji, a powerful mystical exprcist. Kouhei rushes through Schwartz Quelle, in a mad dash to destroy the crystal orb binding Hazuki to the castle. Ant the only thing standing between Kouhei and Hazuki's freedom is Vigo's dragon... will Kouhei be able to rescue his new,so-called master?

3. Big Brother, Let's Live Together

Living with Hazuki is proving more than Kouhei could even think to handle. But with nowhere else to go and a promise made, Kouhei does the impossible... fulfill Hazuki's desire! On a trip into the mountains in search of Hazuki's mother, Kouhei learns there's a little bit more to Hazuki than her split personalities- and even ses a little bit more- probably more than he wanted. But somewhere in teh shadows, is someone hot on their trail... someone who has been charged with bringing Miss Luna back to her rightful home.

4. "Big Brother, I Feel Like Kissing"

It's been a month since Kouhei and his grandfather took Hazuki in. And that cna only mean one thing... A full moon is rising. And with it comes a stranger who seems to know more about Hazuki than she does herself.

5. "Big Brother, It's a Full Full Full Moon"

The beautiful stranger reveals her intentions: she is a servant of the fearsoime vampire, Count Kinkel, and has traveled from Germany to bring Mistres Luna back to the castle. But Hazuke has no intention of returning to her lonely, boring existence. A battle between vampires is about to erupt.

6. "Hearth Throbs in Kyoto"

A simole trip to Kyoto with her new friends becomes quite and adventure for Hazuki. She makes two new enemies, meets up with an old one, and ends up finding friendship in an unexpected place.

7. "Well, I Wanted It..."

The household has found some quiet after the Kyoto trip, but it doesn't last long. Tired of Kouhei's worthlessness as her slave, Hazuki uses her vampiric power to brainwash Hiromi into following her every command. When Kouhei finds out, a bitter fight threatens their friendship for good- and cuts to the heart of both their deepest fears.

8. "Mother Came to See Me! Happy!"

Just when Hazuki is beginning to fear her mother will never come... she sees her! But Hazuki's rapidly spun dreams of a reunion soon prove to be threaded with deceit. No sooner has she stepped out of Grandpa's protective barrier, then she is spirited away. and it is up to her new friends to bring her back home safely.

9. "Save Me From This Dream"

With Hazuki under a sleeping spell and Count Kinkel's custody, Kouhei and Gramps have little time before she loses her innocent identity and reverty to her dark alter ego, Mistress Luna. Elfriede has joined their side, rebelling against her master. But even with the three of them working together, will they be enough to combat the powerful Count?

10. You're My Slave and I won't Forgive You"

The battle to rescue Hazuki from Count Kinkel has pu Kouhei in the hospital, in grave condition. And it was Hazuki's own hand- under the control of her alter ego, Mistress Luna- that caused Kouhei's injuries. How will the humans trust Hazuki now, after what she's done? And even more critical.. how will Kouhei survive?

11. "Big Brother, Get Some Rest!"

After a traumatic experience, everyone's looking forward to some peace and quiet while Kouhei and Ryuuehi recuperate. Unfortunately peace and quiet fall by the wayside when two members of the Mido clan get up to some hijinks, throwing everyone back into the fray.

12."I'll Never Forgive Him!"

The evil Count Kinkel has kidnapped Grandpa Ryuuhei in an attempt ot lure Hazuki, Kouhei, and Seiji back to his mansion. They know that entering the Count's domain could prove fatal, but they must set aside their fears to rescue their grandfather. Will they escape alive, or will Kinkel finally get the last laugh?

13. "Let's Defeat the Count!"

Thanks to the help of the vampiress Elfriede, Hazuki and her friends finally discover the Count's weakness... and his strength. But will they be able to use their newfound knowledge to destroy him, or will he outsmart them yet again?

14. "Big Brother, Will You Walk with Me?"

With Count Kinkel dead and everyone safe, the Mido household should be a place of relieved relaxation. But as Hazuki searches for a way to deal with her resulting emotions, she finds herself confronted with a familiar face... one which may hold the key to the inner peace she desires. But is it worth the price she has to pay?

15. "It's More Than a Responsibility!"

With the Luna and Hazuki personalities battling for control of the same body, Hazuki is quickly losing control. She becomes convinced that she needs a new slave, and disappears into the night. As Kouhei struggles to understand his own feelings, Hazuki demands an answer: why does he want to help her? Out of obligation... or love?

16. "I Have to Eat Cat-Ear Buns!"

Hazuki's war with two thieving crows leads to a discovery about her powers. Kouhei decides this newfound ability makes her the perfect subject for his photography, a concession Hazuki is sevretly more than happy to make. But as she revels in the attention her modeling reaps, creeping self-doubt comes knocking at her door... and closes its heels
, another visitor.

17. "Big Brother, Why Is This Happening?"

Kouhei's old feelings of usefulness rise to surface. He feels powerless to protect Hazuki, and after his grandgather refuses to train him in the supernatural arts, Kouhei experimens a little on his own. Yhis quickly lands him in trouble with his family, but their anger can't last long...Because a new vampire has arrived, and he's hunting for Hazuki.

18. "Yahoo! I'll See You Soon!"

Eight months have passed since the destruction of Hazuki's temporary home. Now staying with the caretakers of the Mido family shrine, she waits for Kouhei to finish his training and mourns the loss of her dear friends. Through Hikaru she learns that animosity is akin to love, anget is sister to passion, and that death does not end life.

19. "Day on the Mountain, Monkey in the Spa, the Cat's Whiskers... And Who Are You?"

Yayoi, Hikaru, Kaouru, and Haiji have all joined Hazuki in the mountain refuge where Kouhei is training. While Hazuki and Kouhei deal with the pain of their long separation, the mysterious vampire trio wanders through the confusing mountain paths, trying to infiltrate the Mido family's magic barrier, adn take Hazuki for themselves.

20. "Grandfather, Why Are You Dressed Like That?"

Kouhei's training continues as their time grows shorter. But when the masked watcher steps in with a test of his own, Kouhei finds himself broken and alone on the mountain, waiting for Hazuki to heal him. Unless someone else finds him first...

21. "Big Brother, Where Is This Nursery Rhyme From?"

As the young will do, Hazuki and Hikaru rush unheeding into the arms of the enemy. As they seek to escape from the elephant-headed Vargas, Yayoi and Seiji hurry to their aid. Alone and wounded, Kouhei is at the mercy of the vampire child, as the masked defender of the mountain keeps watchign from the forest shadows. As one servant cannot serve two masters, sisters will never get along. Sibling rivalry drives Kouhei to tap into his true powers and asthe vampires are forced to retreat, innocence is taken hostage...

22. "I Didn't Know You Were Like That!"

Forbidden from killing her sister Luna, Mistress Arte decides to kill the cherished servant instead. Yet the Mido family hides its own share for dark secrets, for the truth behind Kouhei's lack of psychic prowess is revealed. Seeds of malcontent lead Seiji down a jealous path as Kouhei decides to unlock the Jagan, despite the cost. What he once accomplished without awareness now the young man must learn to do consciously, on command.

23. "Big Brother, Am I that Strange?"

Kouhei, having seen Hazuki's true form and fate wit hte Jagan unleashed, cannot reconcile the little vampire he has grown to love wit hteh moster before his eyes. Seiji seeks to use her guild to drive the blood-sucker back to her own kind, under evil influences not his own. As the Puppet Master attacks prematurely, Hazuki must embrace Kouhei and Kouhei must embrace his ear... And as those who remained in the shadows leap to the defense, hazuki must make the decision to save them all.

24. "Good-bye Big Brother... I'm Going Back? I'm Really Going Back?"

The castle which had been her cage for so long appears, summoned by Hazuki's acceptance of her fate - to return to her imprisonment and her life as the unfeeling, uncaring, Mistress Luna. Despite their promises otherwise, Yayoi, Hikaru, and Haiji follow in what will prove a futile attempt to rescue her, for without Kouhei's Jagan no rescue is possible. Gramps and Elfriede, unmasked, struggle to keep the castle from leaving and trapping those within as Kouhei struggles to conquer his fear of Hazuki...

25. "Big Brother, They Say It's The End! Will You Always Be My Slave?"

Hazuki saved and the vampires banishes, life for the Mido family is resuming its normal place once more - or as normal as it never was! With the old house rebuilt, Ryuuhei welcomes friends and family to celebrate... and the evening really picks up when Seiji brings and unexpected guest along - Arte! Lost in the aftermath of the final battle, they hope that Hazuki can break through the child's self=imposed solitude. But the plans go astray as the full moon feasting begins, and Kouhei might have to save the day one last time....

26. "Up and Down, In the Sun, Floating Away... What Is It?"

In this zany "encore: spoof, the Mido family house has inexplicably r elocated to the middle of the ocean, reason unknown. While no one but Seiji seems to notice anything wrong with this, the rest go along with their off beat day. Arte on the other hand, doesn't quite seem to fit in... Whiule the world around them grows more and more bizarre, Hazuki learns all about being a good older sister.
