A New Respect For Jenny McCarthy
I am reviewing Jenny McCarthy's book "Mother Warriors" because I have a son diagnosed with an ASD(autism spectrum disorder). Her book is very well written, and very inspirational.
I normally don't read much, and I usually take a really long time to finish a book. I received this book for Christmas, so I figured I would just read a few pages, to familiarize myself. Boy was I surprised!
I read this book in 5 days! I could hardly put it down! And I often go back to it! Needless to say I loved this book! It really hit home with me, and opened my eyes to a whole new world of treatments, and other mother's stories.
I cried, and I laughed, and I blurted out comments many times while I was reading it. I highly recommend reading it, even if you don't have a special needs child. Jenny McCarthy is the ultimate mother warrior! I would love to just hug her and thank her in person. She is the voice we have all been looking for.

My son's story
Do you have a story to share too?
My son was developing normally as an infant, until about 10 months of age. He became sick with Asthma type symptoms, and Eczema all over his body. His eyes were swollen, and he could barely breathe. He ended up in the hospital for a few days, and had many tests done. They couldn't find anything wrong! We were sent home with inhalers to help with his breathing, and my doctor said to follow up with him. I really didn't think much about it at that time.Around this same time frame was one of his immunizations, so now I believe that may have been a reason for everything that happened back then. He also started doing odd little things, like rocking back and forth, he wouldn't look at anyone like he used to, and he wouldn't respond to his name. His language development seemed to stop, and my doctor said he was just young and would be fine soon enough. I believed him.
Around 18 months of age I was really concerned with his odd behaviors, like repeatedly opening and closing doors, rocking back and forth, looking out of the sides of his eyes, not responding to his name, no pretend play, horrible outbursts of emotion, and other things. My doctor still did not think anything of it! Finally, my mother helped me to get help. We saw a speech and language pathologist, and she agreed with me about his behaviour being not quite right. She got the diagnosis process started for me, which I will eternally grateful for.
I had to see a few more people first, but the diagnosis was completed about 6 months later. He was 2 years old by this time, and our family was in shock. Especially my husband. He could not believe it! He just chose not to see it, and when he watched the assesment happening, he just froze. He had not wanted to admit that his son was not who he thought he was.
From there we had to meet with numerous people, and get his therapy up and running. We started in our home every day for the first 2 years, then it moved into the child development center, interacting with others like him. He made huge progress in these first couple of years, I am very thankful that I had help early on. Early intervention is definitely key! I never dreamed he would be just like a normal boy, having friends and playdates. He has his moments still, but he is developing at the same rate as his peers, and even higher in some areas. He has many friends, and he is very social.
I am so thankful to God every day for his miraculous recovery. God helped me find ways to heal my son. He is my pride and joy, and I would do anything for him.
I truly believe we all can make a difference in these kids' lives. Yes it is difficult, but it is so worth the effort. My son is living proof. I feel that I have earned the mother warrior title too. My husband and other family agree. Again, I give thanks to Jenny my own mother, and of course God.
Healing Autism
I am trying the GFCF diet on my son.
Are you an ultimate mother warrior too? I am certainly trying very hard to be one. I have been trying this new gfcf diet now for a couple of months now. Man is it hard! It has changed our life drastically, and we have only just begun. I am determined to help my son heal though.Have you gone to the amazing website TACA.org ? It is very helpful. Especially if you feel lost and hopeless. There is hope! Don't give up.
I have personally done other things to help my son as well. I have done a heavy metal detox, which is still ongoing, Mecury is said to be a major factor in Autism causes. The detox I use is very simple, and better yet, my son has no clue he's getting anything. Check out this web site for more information on a substance called liquid zeolite. CLICK HERE
And click on the product information and then click on NATURAL CELLULAR DEFENSE
I have also done something called energetic balancing, here is a web site that tells you more about it. It is called the AIM PROGRAM. I believe this was instrumental in his healing. It was also free for him because he is Autistic. They have a special scholarship program for anyone diagnosed with it. I truly believe we are all made up of energy, and we have the capacity to heal ourselves.
I also have my son drinking a nutrtional beverage called Mona Vie, which Jenny points out in her resource page as a popular choice for many families. I feel so blessed to have found this beverage, it has also helped my entire family with many different things. For my son though, he doesn't get enough nutrition, because he is so very picky. He was suffering many immune deficiencies, and he got sick a lot. He was suffering from severe anxiety, and was boarderline ADHD(attention deficit).
I can tell you, that since my son has been drinking Mona Vie, he is doing very well.
He is in grade 1, and is at par with his peers. He has made huge improvements in his concentration at school. He doesn't get sick near as often, and when he does, it is less severe. He loves to drink this juice, which I am extremely happy about, because I know he is getting all his nutritional needs met. I couldn't be happier with him, and his amazing progress. Most people cannot even tell he is different in any way. If you wish to check out more information on Mona Vie, check out my web site.

Healing Autism Report
This is a great news report, and features Jenny and her son. Plus it talks about the special doctors that are now involved with the biomedical healing process. These are called DAN doctors.(defeat autism now). Watch and you will understand the power we have to heal, alternatively to drugs. Plus the improvements these kids make is phenominal, and worth the time and effort it takes to proceed.

- Oh Jenny. Yes, we feel for you. Poor Evan had seizures. He received medical attention. He got better. That's not autism. It was infantile seizures that caused developmental delays. Regression. And then, with the right treatments, he got better. That is NOT autism. Autism is a life long disorder. Yes, some autistics get better, but they aren't "cured" in a few years, especially after hitting the talk show circuit, writing books and running around making money offering other parents of truly autistic children FALSE hope. It is really disturbing that a mother would hijack the autism label for profit. And that she never seems to really tell us the "details" of her autism experience. It's all abstract, vague and ambiguous sing song stories infused with other people's stories. Whomeover is behind this false portrayal of autism is surly out for the temporary profit from her claims. Bad bad karma.

- Hi Jenny
I am a warrior for Autism as well. My son is eight years old and is now High functioning Autism. He has went from speaking only 20 words and mom wasnt one of them...And very combative...I couldnt take him any where. He use to bite choke or hurt me. In 2007 he had Pneumonia 44 times. My now husband told me to stay home and care for him. So being a nurses aide I cared for him and looked for ways to help him naturally. I got him off of the dope medication he never needed to begin with.. Now he has read his first book and can tell me about 80 percent of his needs and wants. I hope to be a strong warrior in my town like you as I am well known for my strong attitude for my best interest. I think you are awesome. Please check out my link if you have time Id be very honored for your input....Thanks...God Bless Sandy http://www.squidoo.com/PDD
