The Mozart Effect on Babies' Intelligence

Listening to classical music is believed to be able to enhance one's intelligence, especially for newborns and babies. This theory was further popularized when Don Campbell published his book - The Mozart Effect.

In his book, Don Campbell proposes that Classical music with a big "C" (the music of Mozart's period) can reach out to those who are mentally isolated from their fellows, like the autistic, and can help infants react and think better. In addition, the music of Mozart contributes to the improved functioning of the higher cerebellar functions, including the ability to deal with logical and mathematical concepts.

Is Mozart Effect Music Really Good for Babies?

There are strong debate on whether classical music or Mozart Effect can really enhance the intelligence of newborns or babies. But many people do report that classical music helps to soothe babies down and make them sleep better.

The price of the Mozart Effect music CD costs about $6.25 per CD which I think is a great buy for relaxation even if it does not enhance one's intelligence.

And if it does improve one's intelligence even only a tiny bit, it can be considered an extra benefit.
