I practically grew up in Lassen! We lived in San Diego, Ca but my Dad would take us here for a few weeks every other year (tenting then progressing to a small trailer) I learned to drive with my learner's permit the summer I was 15.(57 now!) I remember the Manzanita Lake area fondly, the little grocery store, the hotel, a nice restaurant, hthe bustling cabins..full of life. And was shocked when all this shut down in the early 70's. I remember the BIG FISH in Emerald Lake..you could hand feed them in the 50's! Still a lovely place but the memories are so great! Does anyone out there have any photos of the Manzanita Lake area when it was in full bloom? It is hard to find Historical photos.

Wow, I take it for granted that people know, however, it does not get much publicity, so it doesn't surprise me that people don't know about the park.

Hi Billco. You are the guy who makes arrowheads right? You should check out my Mt Shasta lens. The motherlode of all obsidian is Glass Mountain east of Mt Shasta!
