"Am I required to know and recruit many people in a Multi Level Marketing program to be successful?" is a frequently asked question.

The typical answer from most upline sponsors is something like the following...

"No, if you recruit just one person every month or two, you can be quite successful in Multi Level Marketing, and create a significant residual income.

They go on to say that the people you recruit do not have to come from the group of people you already know (commonly called your warn market). They tell you to think about how many people you meet in your everyday activities!

But then they turn around and tell you to make a list of everyone you know, even from a casual relationship. They instruct you to list everyone you can think of for example, people you work with, go to church with, people you do business with, people you went to school with, people you knew before you moved to your present location, etc. and you will be amazed by the number of people that end up on your list.

Will all or even most of these people join you in your Multi Level Marketing program? Probably not, but statistics show that one out of every one hundred names will make your car payment, one will make your house payment and one will retire you!

Three out of every one hundred people you contact is certainly achievable but you have to actually go out and contact the one hundred people. Some of them might not be interested themselves, but they might know someone who might be and they refer that person to you. This referral process expands your list.

Have you ever been turned down 97 times? That is a lot of rejection. And initially these rejections come from people you know, so the rejection is even harder. Most people will not last that long.

Do you know a number of people who would be willing to approach one hundred people and get rejected by 97 of them over and over again? If you do, terrific, go sign them up today. However, most people will not continue trying to sell or recruit to a disinterested, unwilling or hostile market.

If you are lucky enough to recruit someone who is currently a successful multi level marketer with necessary skills, who brings along his established downline with him and becomes a "heavy hitter" in your company, then technically the answer given above is true. If your company's compensation plan is supportive, then that single recruit may be able to carry you along.

However, the odds of you recruiting a "heavy hitter" who goes out and creates a large downline below you when you only recruit "one person every month or two," is extremely unlikely.

So what might you do if you don't want to face massive rejection and you are not going to be lucky enough to enroll a "heavy hitter" early in your Multi Level Marketing career?

If you don't desire to be a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) club, then I would suggest not going out chasing after your friends and family, everyone you know, or anyone within 30 feet as some upline sponsors encourage. No matter what they say, everyone is not your market. Instead your target market is people who are specifically interested in starting a home-based business, earning extra money, are already members of some Multi Level Marketing company or are interested joining a Multi Level Marketing program. Now the solution is to get them to come to you and then, using a soft sell approach instead of the traditional hard sell, enroll them into your program.

"OK, so just how do I go about accomplishing that?", you ask.

Well first you have to get their attention and interest by offering them something such as a free report or preferably a funded proposal that is relevant to your market and getting them on your mailing or contact list. Then, once they are on your list, you develop a relationship with them by providing them frequent free useful information relative to your product, company, the Multi Level Marketing industry, salesmanship, or marketing, etc. In their eyes you will quickly become an authority figure.

If you have correctly identified your market, prospects will soon be calling you for guidance and asking how they can become a member of,sign up as a member of your team.

Old School Network Marketing Marketing techniques include most of the ones you are probably already familiar with or at least have heard about. They include techniques such as creating a list of friends and family (known as your warm list), creating a list of everyone you know, working these lists, placing door hangers, sending out flyers, holding meetings at peoples homes or at hotels, leaving drop cards, cold calling, and approaching everyone within 3 feet.

Mine: Did they work for you? They don't for most people so don't feel alone.,Did you get a warm welcoming reception to these techniques? Sell a lot of products? Get a bunch of new recruits? No? Well don't feel alone, they don't work for most other people either. That's why most people don't succeed in the Network Marketing industry.

My company indicated that everyone was a potential prospect. While not everyone might be directly interested in the products we sold, everyone was interested in earning some extra money, right? So just make a presentation to everyone you met and some would say yes. I was told that it was a numbers game, the more you people you told about your opportunity, the more people you would get to sign up for your program

Unfortunately, I quickly found out that following the techniques I was taught was the quickest way to become a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) club. Everyone quickly kept their distance, wouldn't answer their phones, nor return calls from voice mail messages.

So what is the typical industry response to NFL members? Buy opportunity leads and start calling them. And so I did.

But by following this guidance led only to more rejection, hung up phones, and some hostile confrontations from these supposedly opportunity seeking prospects.

With nothing to show for all my efforts, I sunk into debt buying worthless opportunity leads.

I finally threw in the towel and got out of the industry for a while, defeated and licking my wounds. That is until I ran across a much easier and better method of recruiting. The new method used the Internet and soon had people coming to me as opposed to me having to go hunting for them.

Using attraction marketing techniques, I soon learned the secrets of offering desirable and useful information to a targeted audience, build a relationship with them and get them to come to me asking to enroll in my program.
