If you had spent any time at all in the real world within the past say, decade or so, you have probably already heard of the infamous Napster scandal that rocked the music industry to its very foundation a few years ago. This celebrated case pitted the music download renegade (or revolutionary depending on who's point of view you choose to believe) against the most powerful and influential bigwigs in the music industry.
Arguably one of the most influential factors that have left a mark on the music and entertainment worlds in recent years has to be the Internet. Yes, that technological marvel that is an integral part of the daily lives of several million of people the world over has forever changed the way we perceive, listen to, purchase and receive music. In some ways this change is for the better and in other ways - well let's just say that things are not always like we expected at all.
We are not going into the legal and moral ramifications of the downloading issue; it is simply not within the scope of this article. There are countless many discussions all over the Internet, some of them can get quite heated as you can imagine, and you are free to formulate your own opinions on the issue and subsequently decide which side of the fence you want to sit on. Suffice it to say that it is quite a complicated issue and everyone who is at all involved in downloading music in any form will have to face up to it sooner or later.
Fortunately things do not always have to end in bitter tears of frustration for the music hounds. There are a few reputable music download sites out there that offer users an extensive online music catalog that they can choose from and offer these services at a reasonably low monthly fee.
Here are some of the music download sites I have been using for the last year which I can recomend.
