Jack's Bookshelf
Ranked #12,081 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #451,337 overall
This lens is a glimpse of my bookshelf. All of the books I know and love. Hopefully you can find some here that you love too. I've been through hundreds of books in my life, and this is merely a few. I may have to make more than one lens like this!
What I'm reading right now
Trudi Canavan is an Australian author, who has invented an excellent fantasy setting, that feels unique and original. Her characters are intriguing and the action flows well. This is not your average fantasy novel, or series for that matter.
Book #2 on my shelf
Seth Godin's Tribes was a gift to me, and inspired the creating of my Squidoo account. Seth breaks down leadership and bureaucracy, putting the human back in the tribe system.
Book #3
Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys puts us in the shoes of two brothers fighting for their lives. One is smooth and cool, the other is a bit of a cluts. They find out they are not so different. And somehow manage to save the world in the end.
Book #4
Christopher Moore's A Dirty Job is about a man that discovers one day that he is the Grim Reaper. But he's not alone. He soon finds out there are many others like him. Through the San Francisco nights, they learn more about life, with every death.
The single best book I've read lately
While I may not agree with China Mieville's political ideas, his dark fantasy, Perdido Street Station, is incredible. A foreign world becomes completely real and believable. The characters jump out at you and beg you to read on.
