Jade
My mom use to say, "Every crow thinks her babies are the blackest." This meant everyone thinks their children (or in my case, grand-children) are the best.
Of course! We all do! I dare say, there is something wrong with the parent or grandparent who doesn't think theirs are the best!

See Jade's sister JASMINE
(I actually do deserve one of those tee-shirts that say "I survived my children"!)
But now I have two sweet little granddaughters; I do get to play with them and be silly with them. What a joy I missed with own children!
Jade was born in 2006 and Jasmine was born in 2008.
I have really enjoyed watching them grow and the best thing is that I get to spend a great amount of time with them since they & their mom live near me.

Jade ~ Months 1 & 2
"Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see." ~John W. Whitehead, The Stealing of America, 1983
This is one of my favorite photos.
A Day at the Beach - 2007
Bath Time
In the first photo, we used a blow-up foot-soaking thingy from Sally's Beauty Supply. It fit perfectly in the kitchen sink, offered cushion on all sides and Jade couldn't slip too far down inside. Easy maintenance too. Rinse and lean over the sink to dry. It only cost $6 so each of my daughters had one for when Jade came to spend the night.
The next picture was taken when we sat her in the bathroom sink. She was so cute.
Both photos were taken with cell phones.
"Women gather together to wear silly hats, eat dainty food, and forget how unresponsive their husbands are. Men gather to talk sports, eat heavy food, and forget how demanding their wives are. Only where children gather is there any real chance of fun." ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Neurotic's Notebook, 1960
1st Birthday
My mother, Jade's great-grandmother, lives out of state so she wasn't there. My sister, Jade's great-aunt lives out of town so she wasn't there either.
My middle daughter is holding Jade in the second photo. Jade looks like someone spiked the birthday cake, but it was just the timing on capturing the photo.
We'll have fun with her many years from now over this photo!

- It was great watching Jade grow from infant to a young child and to see her become more beautiful.
