Jade

I love my grand-babies and just want to show them off.

My mom use to say, "Every crow thinks her babies are the blackest." This meant everyone thinks their children (or in my case, grand-children) are the best.

Of course! We all do! I dare say, there is something wrong with the parent or grandparent who doesn't think theirs are the best!

See Jade's sister JASMINE

When my babies were growing up, I didn't really have time to appreciate their being children. I was so busy being a wife and a mother, or a divorced mother and working, that I never really had time to enjoy them as babies. Then they were teenagers and having too much unsupervised time on their hands, they like to have drove me completely nuts.

(I actually do deserve one of those tee-shirts that say "I survived my children"!)

But now I have two sweet little granddaughters; I do get to play with them and be silly with them. What a joy I missed with own children!

Jade was born in 2006 and Jasmine was born in 2008.

I have really enjoyed watching them grow and the best thing is that I get to spend a great amount of time with them since they & their mom live near me.

Jade-Only Minutes Old

First Months

The 2 photos below were actually taken with a camera phone, which explains why they are a bit blurry. (Not the same phones.)

Several other photos here were also taken with camera phones.

Jade ~ Months 1 & 2

"Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see." ~John W. Whitehead, The Stealing of America, 1983

When Jade was about 6 months old, her parents took her to the beach. Her mom caught the following photo by accident. She was snapping the picture just as daddy leaned over and gave Jade a kiss on the head.

This is one of my favorite photos.

Bath Time

The neat thing about babies is that you can bathe them just about anywhere in the house. The kitchen sink, the bathroom sink...

In the first photo, we used a blow-up foot-soaking thingy from Sally's Beauty Supply. It fit perfectly in the kitchen sink, offered cushion on all sides and Jade couldn't slip too far down inside. Easy maintenance too. Rinse and lean over the sink to dry. It only cost $6 so each of my daughters had one for when Jade came to spend the night.

The next picture was taken when we sat her in the bathroom sink. She was so cute.

Both photos were taken with cell phones.

"Women gather together to wear silly hats, eat dainty food, and forget how unresponsive their husbands are. Men gather to talk sports, eat heavy food, and forget how demanding their wives are. Only where children gather is there any real chance of fun." ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Neurotic's Notebook, 1960

1st Birthday

Turning 1 year old is so special. Not so much for Jade because she didn't really understand what was going on, but for the family it was a gathering of aunts and friends.

My mother, Jade's great-grandmother, lives out of state so she wasn't there. My sister, Jade's great-aunt lives out of town so she wasn't there either.

My middle daughter is holding Jade in the second photo. Jade looks like someone spiked the birthday cake, but it was just the timing on capturing the photo.

We'll have fun with her many years from now over this photo!

First Events:
Christmas
Easter
Halloween

Jade loves her daddy! For Halloween last year,he dressed up as a tiger and she was a ladybug. She wasn't too keen on the idea of dressing up.

This year she was Tinkerbell and we took her to Chuck E. Cheese.
