RegClean Review

Maybe you have experienced the same problems with your computer as I have in recent weeks. Lately I have noticed a general slowdown on my system when even trying to perform the most basic tasks. I would get error messages when opening programs and computer games were pretty much unplayable for me because of the constant chugging of my computer. My computer wasn't always like this and the system is only a year old.

After reading up online about the symptoms I was experiencing with my computer I discovered it was very likely a problem with the registry and most likely it was a corrupted registry.

I was initially going to try fix and manually fix the problem myself by going in to the registry and trying to diagnose what the issue was and then repairing it but after looking at the registry and learning more about it I concluded that it was quite risky and I ran a very real chance of making my registry problems much worse.

Then one of my friends suggested taking it to the local big box computer store to have it repaired. I went in and requested a quote and they told me it would be at least two hundred dollars! I was shocked, I couldn't afford that.

I then read about registry repair software, this is software that will scan your registry and repair any problems that the program finds there for you without you having to know anything about how the registry actually works.

Initially I was skeptical about the claims these programs were making on their websites but decided to download one a give it a try. The registry repair program I chose was RegClean because it had received some good reviews from the various online sites I had looked at.

I am not the most tech savvy person but the RegClean interface is very easy to understand and installation of the program was very easy. You start out in the scan area of the program and can choose it either manually scan your registry using registry options you pick yourself such as making the program look for broken fonts and invalid application paths or you can let the program automatically scan for the most common registry errors. I have two very large hard drives on my computer with lots of information on them and the scan times using RegClean were very good. Within two minutes the program had scanned my entire registry.

After the scan was complete the RegClean gave me a detailed breakdown of where all the registry issues are located on my system and what the problems are. Just like in the scan area these issues can be dealt with automatically by the program or you can manually go through each flagged registry file and decide if you want it removed. I've never had an issue each time I have chose the auto repair option.

Some other RegClean features worth mentioning include a startup program manager. I have found using the feature has really helped free up some much needed space on my computer and improved performance. I was quite surprised by how many program load up when you first boot windows even if you aren't using them. After playing around with the startup program manager I managed to remove all but a handful.

RegClean also comes with a backup and restore feature that give me more confidence when removing registry entries flagged by the program. The program will make a backup of your registry before it deletes anything from your registry. That way, if the program should remove a registry file that Windows needs you can hit the restore button and presto! You're back in business.

The program comes with a good help file. I had a couple of questions about the program and the help files answered them for me. There is also email support on the RegClean website in case you run in to real problems.

RegClean Review Conclusions

I liked how simple RegClean was to use, the interface was easy to get to grips with. After my initial skepticism wore off I was impressed by how quickly the program dealt with my registry issues. My computers performance noticeably improved as well, especially after I used the startup manager feature. I no longer get any error messages and can play my games without constant freezes. I would recommended RegClean to my family and friends.
