My Giant Squid Lens

On May 2, 2008 I got the notification that I was one of the newest Giant Squids.

From the Email from Squidoo I learned I was a part of this groups that is"

So I thought I would share some of my Lens and tips on long the way ( This is a Work in Progress)

What is a Giant Squid?

A Giant Squid is a Squidoo Lens master that makes 50 or More Great Lens.

The Giant Squids receive benefits for their accomplishments on being selected as a Squidoo Lens Master that has over 50 "Great Lens"

My First and Best Squidoo Lens

On of my favorite personal websites is about American Idol. Once I found Squidoo, it only made sense to start a Squidoo lens on the same topic.

My First and Best Lens is American Idol News it was Created on 03/14/2006.

This lens has been in the top 100 list for 56 Days and the Highest rank achieved: #18 overall

As you can see the lens is a Monster, It covers American Idol Season 5, 6 and 7.

How I Build Squidoo Lens

How I Build Squidoo Lens

I try to build several lens at a time Around a General theme.

I will pick a main theme, such as the American Idol Theme and then also build supporting lens based on the contestants each year.

By having a Main theme, and then a more targeted niche theme that is int he same genre, it allows me to easily link between the lens, and cross promote the lens and potential traffic.

Also you can only put so much into one lens, it's easier to make several lens on the same topic or theme but niched out for each of them.

For example I have lens about Computers, but them I have lens about specific brands of computers and specific models. This way the lens cross promote themselves and I can concentrate on the core niche of the theme rather then being extremely diverse and losing potential traffic and customers.
