I wasn't always old, you know ...
It may come as a shock to some but I wasn't always a grandmother. Once upon a time, many years ago, I was a teenager and, like teenagers everywhere, I wanted to have fun.
I thought I would treat you to a peek at my kind of music.
Â

Pink Floyd

I was a teenager in the sixties and seventies, nuff said LOL
I saw them play once, at the students union at Edinburgh University, can't remember if it was '69 or '70, those were good times. The acoustics weren't exactly the greatest but as I was sitting on the edge of the rather low stage with my back inches from a gigantic speaker, I wasn't caring about the acoustics, I was truly feeling the music.
Funny thing, the one in the band I always thought was geekiest then is now hot, he wears the years well, as they say.
No band on the planet is better than Pink Floyd and I don't believe there ever will be a better sound.
Wish I could have been at the gig they got together for in London but even on TV it was magic.
I have 7 albums
Snow Patrol
Loved their first appearance at T in the Park, looked like they thought they would be playing to 3 drunks and the blades of grass because there were some big names appearing on other stages at the same time. The tent was packed out and the band looked somewhat overwhelmed. Another magic performance captured by the TV cameras.
I have 3 albums.
Bob Marley
I have 4 albums.
Elbow
Again, it's the sound which attracted me, very distinctive style which I enjoy greatly. I didn't even need to hear the whole track before going online to order.
I have 2 albums.
The Doves
I have 4 albums.
Faithless
Rammstein
I have 3 Rammstein albums.
Sting
I have 4 albums.
Moby
I have 4 albums which just about covers any mode I want to be in.
Scissor Sisters
I only have 2 Scissor Sisters albums ;-(
Of course, that's not all ...
Of course, the orchestral music of classical composers such as Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky are on another shelf together. I don't often listen to those but again, when the mood takes me, Vivaldi rules.

A younger me
Hope you leave me a note ...
I would love to hear what you like about my music and whether there were any surprises.

- Some very interesting choices there! One Snow Patrol album and I too was hooked. I bought 'Final Straw' when it first came out and off the strength of that also bought the first two albums; I have to say that I've been very impressed with all four albums thus far! (can't wait for album number five to emerge next month!) In terms of surprises in your list; I guess Rammstein was a bit of a surprise... but at the same time not really; Rammstein is a very good band. I guess my main surprise was actually that you found music on MTV... that channel never seems to play music anymore! Doesn't quite live up to its name really, MTV2 is always good for music videos though! An interesting video showcase anyway and I like the way that you've broken it up with text explaining your choices; a very nice touch. :)
