My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose

~ Know The Meaning Significant to The Colour ~

- THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE DIFFERENT ROSE COLOURS -

~ And The Undeniable Language Of Flowers ~

Roses are a beautiful and versatile flower, and they come in many vivid, and pastel colorings. The petals of a rose are used in the composition of essential oils, and precious rose Otto is used to flavor Turkish delight. Rose petals look pretty scattered onto the dinner table when you have guests for dinner, and it makes a lovely romantic gesture to throw them onto the bed when you have your lover coming around. The red rose is the classic symbol of love, and romance, and to give a single long stemmed red rose is the ultimate form of expressing deep love. -

The magnificent colors of the rose each have their own representation and meaning and on this Valentines day I'm sure we all know what the red rose stands for, and this is why it is the most bought flower on this special occasion on February 14th. St. Valentines day. - Florists of the world rejoice!

The rose is a beautiful and dynamic flower. It has impact and meaning. So by the giving of a rose, think on. You could be sending out all the wrong messages. Here are the hidden meanings of the beautiful rose and their representations.

~ The Red Rose: ~

The classic red rose stands for romance, and love. The long stemmed red rose is elegant, and romantic, and to give your lover one dozen red roses is a extreme, grand gesture of love. Red roses were used in early marriage ceremonies, to signify the bond of fertility and love. The red rose represents deep feelings, and by the giving of the red rose, it is as good as saying 'I love you'. -

~ The Pink rose: ~

The pink rose is a classic 'Thank you rose'. It is used to show thanks, admiration and happiness. If you receive a mixed bunch of pink and yellow, it indicates friendship. But if the pink is mixed with red, this can be taken as a sign of romance. Just as the red rose stands for deep love, the watered coloring of pink stands for lesser love, verging on friendship. So the pink rose would be an ideal gift to give on the start of a relationship. -

~ The Violet rose: ~

A Violet rose represents love at first sight. It represents elegance, enchantment, fantasy, and dignity. This rare and beautiful rose is truly an elegant bloom, and would be given to someone, who has swept you off your feet emotionally, someone you wish to know a lot better. To give a lavender bouquet to someone is saying you are beautiful, and I put you on a pedestal. Just as its fragile and delicate colour, it portrays the feelings of pure love which you feel for the receiver of this exquisite bloom.-

Violet Rose

~ The Blue Rose ~

The Blue Rose is a truly unusual bloom. It is not a natural colour that occurs in nature. It is painstakingly created from the genes of other flora and has been given the significance of 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

The Blue Rose conveys mystery and secrecy. It represents the enigmatic and something which is just out of reach. An achievement beyond ones grasp. A vision, a dream yet to be attained. A surreal and exquisite vision of a colour which doesn't quite sit with ease upon the rose. A fantasy, a remarkable image which excites the imagination and is stunning to behold, and it translates the meaning onto the person. You would give the Blue Rose to a complex personality, an enigma, a person with many layers. A person who holds true fascination for you.

The Blue Rose in its lightest form is akin to the lilac rose and it represents Love at first sight. A love to last forever and as such it would be given to someone you have fallen in love with. Such is the strong representation of the Blue Rose.

~ The Green Rose ~

The rare and stunning green rose at its highest level represents eternal love; a higher love, a spiritual love, and the first and foremost significance is that the green rose stands for fertility, as its very colour symbolises earth and nature, and the green colouring symbolizes richness, abundance and life's force. This rare bloom also signifies self respect and well being. It is also a rose that represents renewal and re-birth and is very much a bloom of springtime. It signifies new beginnings, fresh endeavours and the very essence of life. -

Green Rose

~The Orange rose: ~

The orange rose represents passion, and desire. The orange color is fiery, and translates its feelings through its vivid color. It denotes passion, a strong, burning flame. It is also seen as representing enthusiasm, fascination, and energy. It is also starting to be seen as a rose that represents a new romance. This rose is recognized as being given as an expression of achievement, and congratulation, and in true tradition, orange represents Halloween, and orange roses are sold in abundance around this time of year. -

~ The Yellow rose: ~
The yellow rose denotes happiness and friendship. It is a platonic representation, a rose to let someone know things will be going no further in a relationship. This is also a 'get well' rose, and a pretty bloom for someone in hospital, the color being perfect for cheering someone up. The yellow rose stands for freedom and joy also. But in days gone by the yellow rose symbolized jealousy, and fading love in Europe. -

~ The White rose: ~
The white rose stands for purity, reverence, innocence and faith. Dilute in a bunch of red or orange roses and they will signify a pure depth of love. Place in a bouquet of yellow or pink and this will represent a platonic friendship. The white rose will be used in marriage ceremonies to portray innocence, as will the white wedding dress. The white rose is also used at sombre times to display reverence, such as a death, or a funeral, and to signify the pure spirit and renewal, and transcendence.- The white rose represents the deepest spiritual love that is on a higher plain than that of sexual love. -

~ The Black rose: ~
The black rose is significant in Goth subculture where is represents tragedy, angst, intense love. It is fitting along with black candles, skull and crossbones, the traditional Gothic black clothing, and black make up. The black rose also represents death, a curse, and hatred. The black rose is not a naturally grown bloom, and is quite hard to find. -

It is really interesting that the colors of the different roses represent an emotion, and meaning. So now you will be able to send the appropriate color bloom for all occasions, and all relationships. The red rose is still my very favorite for all the things that it standstands for, and it is beautiful to see it in all it's glory, with profuse leaves, and branches with thorns intact. True representation that true love can transcend pain and suffering. -

'My love is like a red, red rose'
Robert Burns. 1st stanza.

My love is like a red red rose
That's newly sprung in June;
My love is like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune.

A very apt sentiment for Valentines day. Have a wonderful time.

Thank you for reading.

Stumble It!

With thanks to Fabio Visentin for several of my photographs of the rose.

I thought the green rose was stunning. The others were beautiful as well, but the green one really captured me. I didn't realize there was such a variety, and although not completely ignorant, my knowledge of the meaning of the different color variations is limited to say the least. Thanks for the info.
