A Childs Discovery

When I was a very little girl, I discovered my secret love. My family took me on a trip to an amazing place, a huge "Pond", that moved and rolled, constantly changing, challenging and moving. This place was different than anywhere I had ever been before.

It looked different...

It smelled different...

It sounded different...

It felt different...

It even tasted different.

This wonderful place they told me, was called...

The Ocean.

The Ocean was a sight to see...

Shades of blue, green and white as far as the eyes could see. Constantly moving, hypnotic rolling, the waves entranced my tiny heart, as I watched them roll slowly in. Curling and Crashing against the sand, the lacy white water and foamy bubbles spreading quickly up the beach towards me.

Gulls flying above the waves, seemed almost to stand still in the air above, frozen in time. Their crys like no other, and connected deeply to my memories of my secret love, the ocean.

Ocean Breeze.

The Breeze blowing my sandy blond hair, the salty sea air was indescribable. A deep breath taken, drinking the difference into my lungs. A memory embedded on my senses. The smell of the Ocean is like no other.

A smell that takes one back in time.

The sound of the Ocean...

The rythym of the ocean, is like a lullaby,

gentle and calming,

repetitive and constant,

the ebb and flow of the waves,

constantly moving, rolling,

licking the sand

as they crash in crescendo.

Falling back

to start all over again.

Wathing the sunset in the ocean on a clear day. It looks like it is melting into the sea! What a beautiful sight!

I've never seen it, but really want to someday!

The warmth of the Sand

The warmth of the Sand...

Kneeling in the sand, my knees sinking deeply into the soft sand. Cushioning my body in the comfort of it's warm embrace. The sand, tiny little pieces of sparkling rock, soft and textured.

Feeling a breeze I gathered a handfull of the sand. Feeling the grit of the sand as I stood up. My arm extended I loosened my hold, allowing the sand to sift slowly through my opened fingers, flying into the wind, like an hourglass counting time. I watched it fall with a smile.

Happily sending it home to the beach below.

My toes curled, gathering the warmth of the sand between them.

The Taste of the Ocean...

Watching the ocean, making sandcastles, giggling and running with delight when the ocean decided to take back the very sand I was building with.

I remember holding hands with my friend and running in the water as it rolled up the beach, our bare feet splashing saltwater high above our heads. Licking my lips as the salty water kissed them. My tastebuds hold the memories of those moments, a taste of fond memories.

Sweet in their saltiness, those memories of the taste of the Sea.

"Foot-prints on the Sea-shore"

I find myself at the extremity of a long beach.

How gladly does the spirit leap forth, and suddenly enlarge its sense of being to the full extent of the broad, blue, sunny deep!

A greeting and a homage to the Sea!

I descend over its margin, and dip my hand into the wave that meets me, and bathe my brow.

That far-resounding roar is the Ocean's voice of welcome.

His salt breath brings a blessing along with it.
