Mental telepathy is a coveted supernatural ability. In fiction there are a lot of heroes and even villains who possess this ability. Telepathy enables one to get into somebody else's mind and read his or her very thought and emotion.

Studies have been done to understand the very nature of telepathy. Scientifically speaking telepathy is just impossible and unexplainable. But there is no denying the incidents that have been observed to demonstrate telepathy.

What is Telepathy?
Telepathy is a type of Extrasensory perception or ESP. It is defined as the ability to read people's thoughts and feelings. Just like any ESP abilities, telepathy relies on PSI to do the job. The method by which telepathy is done is still vague even to ESP enthusiasts. Some say that telepaths could read thoughts by looking at the other person's eyes or by touching them. While others claim that telepathy could not be readily controlled. Thoughts and emotions streams to people with telepathic power like water on a stream. This, says enthusiasts, would explain why most people with such power are usually considered crazy.

It is also mentioned that telepathy does not only involved reading peoples thoughts and emotion. Telepathy is also use to communicate between people with the said ability. It is also believed that telepathy could be used to control people and to create illusions. All claims about telepathy are yet to be proven but there are studies that provide strong proofs that telepathy exist. There are even theories that states that man has always possess telepathic prowess but due to evolution and natural selection, man has lost much of this ability.

Telepathy in the Future
Some scientist studying the concepts of telepathy claims that telepathy will be possible in the future. They say that telepathy will then be used as a means of communication. With the faster advancements in the fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology, cognitive and information technology it is not impossible that science will soon find a way to link people's minds with each other.

But scientist still say that telepathy as ESP enthusiast and fictional writers describe is not scientifically possible. Telepathy as it is commonly known surpasses the time and distance barrier. The signal between telepathic individuals seem to be unaffected by distance. Enthusiast reasons out that unlike technology telepathy do not rely on radio waves or any physical wave particles for that matter. Telepathy simply relies on the power of the human mind.
