In order to be among the best in the NBA you need a number of things like versatility on offense and defense, a strong passion and love for the game, but most importantly the drive to always improve.
Over the years there have only been a small few that fit the bill like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. All three of these NBA superstars have these attributes with an intense undying love for the game of basketball which has made them NBA legends and prime examples of basketball excellence.

KOBE BRYANT
The Black Mamba, the air apparent, the next Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant has been called all of these things over his 11 year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers for being one of the most electrifying and exciting clutch players in the NBA today, but can he really take MJ's place as greatest ever? It is undeniable that Michael Jordan was one of the best players in the NBA, considered by some as the best, but with Kobe Bryant showing flashes of brilliance and sporting three NBA championship rings, a new king of the NBA was born in Los Angeles.Without his future hall of famer teammate Shaquille O'Neal in middle for the Lakers, Kobe Bryant has struggled to get the Lakers back to dominant status in NBA which has caused trade demands and constant rumors around the Lakers franchise, but with help from a revitalized Lakers bench and supporting cast, Kobe Bryant just might have another shot at another NBA championship, if not now, in the near future.
LEBRON JAMES
Raw talent, relentless competitor with unbelievable basketball skills, LeBron James is young, but he is definitely the real deal! Before there was LeBron James, there was no Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James or King James as he has been called is one of the most unique talents in the NBA, comparable to the likes of NBA hall famers Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson, LeBron James is a triple threat on any given night. Remarkable athletic ability that makes him a high riser and dominant scoring, but he also possesses the point guard vision in which he always sees the open man much like Magic. By the time this kid hangs them up, he could be considered as one of the NBA's greatest ever.Last season LeBron lead his Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history with an amazing performance against the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals that will go down in history of one of the single greatest performances in NBA playoffs history. Although coming off a very successful season the problem of having no talent around James still remains which has kept his Cavs to less than impressive record this season. Unless LeBron turns his team around, the Cavs will be in for a disappointing season.
STEVE NASH
Regarded as one of the best passers in the NBA since Magic Johnson, Steve Nash has the uncanny ability to find the open man no matter what the situation on the hardwood. Supplied with a very talented squad on the Phoenix Suns, Nash is blessed with teammates like Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion and Leandro Barbosa that make his passing ability that much better. Not only is Nash a phenomenal passer, but he is also a very efficient scorer who always knows when to shoot and when to pass. Every year Nash is always amongst the league leaders in assists and shooting percentage in all three categories, from the floor, from beyond the arc and at the line where he has a career average of just under 90%. Steve Nash is the total package, the perfect point guard and a NBA coach's dream.Coming into the 2007 NBA season the Phoenix Suns looked like the polar opposite of the dominant team from last season, but that didn't last long as Steve Nash was able to rally his troops and get an 8 game win streak going early in the season. As of right now the Suns are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and Steve Nash has never looked better averaging 17 points and a little over 12 assists per contest showing he is still the top point guard in the league. If the Suns and Nash can stay healthy for the majority of the season they will make a strong push into the playoffs at the end of the season.
DWIGHT HOWARD
The NBA has had some big men in past that many may have thought could never be surpassed or matched in either skill nor dominance in the paint like NBA greats Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal, but now here comes the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard. Athletic specimen unlike no other seen since the younger days of Shaquille O'Neal, unbelievably gifted around the basket being an absolute dominant force in the paint and on the boards. Arguably the best big man in the game today, up there with the likes of Yao Ming, Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal. By the time it is all said and done, this monster in Orlando just might be one of the best centers the NBA has ever seen.Dwight Howard has done the impossible this year with the help of Rashard Lewis by turning the Orlando Magic franchise back into a winner. Completely and utterly dominant, Howard controls the paint on a nightly basis, no matter who the opponent Howard is almost an absolute guarantee to get at least 20+ points, 15 rebounds and 3 or 4 blocks per game. No one can guard him and he can guard just about any big man in the league. With a striking resemblance to a younger Shaq, but much more muscle and a lot better shape, Howard has taken the league by storm and will probably have his Orlando Magic squad grabbing the 1st, 2nd or 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference come playoff time.

Dwight Howard with is awesome power in the paint and dominant rebounding skills. Steve Nash the ultimate team player and playmaker with around the back passes and precision shooting. Four of the NBA's best without a doubt!!
HOW THE WEST WAS WON: THE BEST IN THE WEST?
WHO WILL COME OUT VICTORIOUS IN THE VERY COMPETITIVE WESTERN CONFERENCE?
It is no secret that the Western Conference is very talented and extremely competitive right now with only a couple of games between teams determining their playoff position, with Kobe Bryant and the revamped Lakers firing on all cylinders after getting Pau Gasol from Memphis, Jason Kidd and reigning MVP Dirk Nowitzki making a deadly combination in Dallas, Tim Duncan and the defending NBA champion Spurs looking to make another run at yet another title, Tracy McGrady leading his Yao-less, but extremely hot Houston Rockets to their best record in years and the Phoenix Suns playing with a motivated Shaq and a new found inside presence. You just don't know how it is going to shape up come playoff time, every team is pumped, ready and playing their best basketball at the right time!So the question remains, Who will come out on top? Lakers, Spurs, Dallas, Rockets, Suns or some of the really good teams on the outside looking in like the Golden State Warriors lead by Mavs killer Baron Davis or the best young team in the NBA the Portland Trailblazers or perhaps the biggest surprise of this NBA season, the New Orleans Hornets who have proved they can play with anybody in the West with Chris Paul at the point.
It is by far the best combination of good teams the NBA has seen in a very long time and is looking like it could be one of the NBA playoffs we may ever see!

It is that time of year again where NBA players are at the top of their game and looking to prove they can play with the league's top talent in the NBA All Star Weekend!It's official, the starting lineups for both the Eastern and Western Conferences have been announced and with some surprises this time.
Here are the starting lineups for the All Star game on February 17th:

The triple-double machine has done it again!
Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat
Not quite sure Wade is on this list, the Heat are just terrible and he hasn't been the same Wade since he went down last season.
LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
Having his best season in his career, leading the NBA in scoring and playing like he is out to prove something.
Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics
Quite possibly the NBA's MVP this year, KG has completely turned around a franchise that has been in the dumps every since Larry Bird retired.

Could be the best center in the NBA, dominant inside force who is starting to require a double team on a regular basis.

Always a tough debate every season, but which team is the cream of the crop in the 07/08 NBA season?
There are only about 5 teams in the NBA that can be considered in the this category: Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers (a little bias, but got to stick up for my boys).These five squads are playing exceptional basketball, dominating in almost every game they have played this season!

Kobe Bryant has gotten his troops playing the best basketball Los Angeles has seen since the championship years of old
Finally, Kobe Bryant doesn't have to score 50 points for the Lakers to win. With the sudden turn around and great team basketball by the Lakers, Kobe and company are looking like a legitimate threat to be a contender coming out of the Western Conference as long as they can beat the Spurs in 7 games. It has been a long time, but the Celtics are back to elite status in the NBA and a clear favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA finals
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen! This trio is turning out to be a huge success as the Boston Celtics are looking to make history as one of the best teams in Celtics history (that is saying something). As long as the Celtics can hold off the always competitive Detroit Pistons, the Eastern Conference and possibly an NBA title is theirs for the taking. Phoenix Suns
One of the most entertainig offenses in the league with Steve Nash at the helm and a chip on his shoulders
The Suns are always competitive, but they have just not been able to get past the Spurs in the West. With the addition of Grant Hill and the rest of the boys playing at a championship level, the Suns will be looking to prove that they can be the team to beat in the Western Conference. As long as they play defense like they play offense, the Suns will go a long way. San Antonio Spurs
Arguably the best team in the NBA in the last decade the San Antonio Spurs will be looking to repeat after destroying LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA finals last season
Always a favorite to come out of the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs haven't slowed down a bit after their championship run. Even though the Spurs are a mirror image of their team last season, the league looks a lot different with everyone in the West gunning for Tim Duncan and company. The Spurs will not have it as easy as they did last year, but they have been there, done that. Detroit Pistons
With one of the best starting five in the league, the Pistons are a serious threat to come out of the Eastern Conference every year
Team basketball! The Pistons are one of the best at playing team basketball in NBA with superstars and role players like Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace running the show. The Pistons have dominated the East the last four years, but with the emergence of the Celtics the Pistons finally have some competition. PICK THE NEXT NBA CHAMPION?
