Uncommon Activities to Do For Fall and Winter
Soccer, cross country, football, and track and field are the most popular sports to play in the fall. But when the leaves turn orange and yellow, it reminds me of my favorite beers. Many of the United States' beer festivals are held during the Fall. One of the oldest is called The Great American Beer Festival or GABF. It is a three-day annual event from September 16 through September 18 in Denver, Colorado. The GABF brings visitors from around the world to sample more than 2,000 different American beers. Over 100 beer judges from the United States and abroad evaluate beer in the associated competition, ultimately judging 3,300 beers entered by almost 500 domestic breweries.
Winter (December, January, February)
My favorite time of the year is winter. I long for December to come and snow to fall. When the air gets cold I think of winter sports. My favorite winter sport of all is skiing. Not just regular skiing -heli-skiing. Heli-skiing is short for helicopter skiing. It's basically a rich man's way to ski. Rather than waiting in long lines behind slow beginner skiers to go down a short slope of packed-in snow, heli-skiing provides a luxurious helicopter ride for a small group to be dropped-off on the top of a mountain. The path you go down is covered in loose powder sometimes as high as your knees. The mountains are quiet and peaceful. You'll only see the small group of people who came in the helicopter with you. The sights are gorgeous, you are surrounded by nature. 95% of all the heli-skiing in the world occurs in British Columbia, Canada. So if you're ever in the area try heli-skiing. It's a great private retreat for upper-level skiers and snowboarders. It's undoubtedly the best way to go skiing and snowboarding.
