State of Origin Game 2 - Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
June 16th 2010
Queensland 34 defeated New South Wales 6
The mighty Cane Toads were again far too good for the New South Wales Cockroaches with a resounding 34 to 6 win at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. This result capped off a disastrous week for the Blues team with everything going wrong for them putting them behind the eight ball before they even got started.
This was a much more aggressive game than the first encounter with plenty of biff going on.
Queensland have now won their fifth successive State of Origin series and NSW is going to need an extremely talented squad of players in game 3 to even come close to this amazingly successful side.
Queensland led at half time by 16-0.

Queensland once again got the better of the Blues in a 4 point victory in a brawless game 1 of the State of Origin on a wet wintry night in Sydney.
New South Wales paid the penalty for having players playing out of position. The selectors need to select a side full of players playing in their specialist roles in they are ever going to have a chance to defeat this awesome and dominating Queensland side.

Queensland scored again just after half time increasing their lead to 24-6. Craig Wing came on for the Blues at the 60th minute and scored 2 minutes later. 8 minutes after the Craig Wing try, Jarryd Hayne scored. NSW V QLD STATE OF ORIGIN - GAME 2
Queensland have won the series for a historic 4th time after defeating NSW in the second game at ANZ Stadium Queensland won 24-14.The NSW Blues had a bad first half with lots of errors and dropping the ball too many times. David (the Wolfman) Williams on debut for NSW had a bad start to the game dropping the ball twice early on in the game.
Queensland scored first in the 6th minute with a try from Greg Inglis. Johnathan Thurston kicked the conversion. Score 6-0.
Isreal Folau scores a try for Qld in the 17th minute, and Johnathan Thurston kicked the conversion. Score 12-0
The crowd cheers loudly for David Williams when he catches the ball and manages to hang on to it.
In the 23rd minute Greg Inglis is down and out after a high tackle from Trent Barrett. Greg Inglis leaves the field, NSW is penalised and Trent Barrett is lucky not to be sin-binned but is placed on report.
Darren Lockyer scores a try for Qld in the 24th minute and Thurston kicks the conversion. Score 18-0.
In the 29th minute Jarryd Hayne takes an intercept and bolts 91m up field to score a try for NSW. The try is converted with a goal from Kurt Gidley. Score 18-6.
In the 36th minute Ashley Harrison scores for Qld but is rejected by the video ref. No Try.
Then fisty cuffs break out between Justin Poore and Michael Crocker. Crocker is penalised.
In the 39th minute Jarryd Hayne scores again with a try from dummy half right on the line. Goes to the video ref - given the try, benefit of the doubt. Jarryd Hayne is certainly the stand out player for NSW. He plays with a maturity well beyond his years.
Kurt Gidley misses the conversion. Score is now 18-10.
Queensland should be miles ahead at half-time considering NSW's form on the field, NSW very lucky to be only 8 points in arrears at half-time.
New South Wales play much better in the second half, Queensland making more errors than they did in the first. Looks like NSW will not give up without a fight.
In the 62nd minute David Willams redeems himself and scores a try for NSW, he really needed to score that try! The conversion was missed. Score 18-14.
New South Wales looked like they were in with a chance but Queensland just wouldn't give up with Cameron Smith scoring under the post in the 79th minute. The goal was converted by Johnathan Thurston. He's such a good goal kicker, in fact he's good at everything!
Final result at full-time Qld 24 - NSW 14.

New South Wales Tries (J Hayne 2, D Willams) K Gidley 1/3 goals

NSW v QLD
This win by Queensland was outstanding considering that some of the squad were struck down by a stomach bug just before the game. Players Nate Myles, Michael Crocker, Dallas Johnson and Darren Lockyer were believed to be suffering from food poisoning. Despite speculation from North of the Border I'm sure that NSW had absolutely nothing to do with it!The first half by NSW was pretty bad. Peter Sterling a former NSW half-back stated that it was the worst half performance ever by a NSW team. The defence was at times embarrassing.
The second half though was different, with Queensland having to fight hard to stay ahead.
4th series win in a row for Queensland. Congratulations!
