Lovely Nasturtiums
I found the Nasturtium Plant growing wild in one of these front gardens. So from this plant I took a cutting and I too planted this beautiful plant.
I love Nasturtiums as they are full of colour creeping along the ground or up along the fences, filling in the gaps covering areas in between larger plants.
Nasturtiums have bright colourful flowers in red, orange and yellow with a lovely green leaf which not only looks good you can eat it as well. They like to grow in shaded areas with morning sun as they tend to easily die off in full sun.
Nasturtiums do tend to take over but it is one plant that I don't mind getting out of control as they are easy to cut back and separate, making new plants, ready to take off and spread a mass of colour in another spot in your garden.

The Nasturtium Plant and Uses
Properties of The Nasturtium
The Nasturtium Plant (Tropaeolum) originates from the mountain areas of South and Central America know as the tropical American herb. There are a few species of the Nasturtium plant and the ornamental, the plants most commonly grown in our gardens, are cultivated for their red, orange and yellow flower.
The Nasturtium Plant is edible along with being a hardy colourful ground cover. The leaves are often chopped up and added to salads and vegetable dishes giving the dish a peppery flavour along with the benefits of vitamin c, a natural antibiotics and antioxidant.
As mentioned before the Nasturtium can be used as a natural antibiotic. It is fast acting and makes for a far better alternative to the usual antibiotic as it not harmful to your system and doesn't affect your own natural antibodies.
The flower buds or seeds of the Nasturtium plant known as capers are used in salads and are often pickled in vinegar making for a healthy way of dressing up a salad.
Nasturtium leaves can be made into an aphid spay.By boiling the leaves, cooling, then straining and adding a little soap, this can be used on your flowers and vegetables to rid of aphids.
Nasturtium is the botanical name for watercress es.
As you can tell the Nasturtium plant can play an important part in your well-being for its medicinal properties added to the food that you eat and for its bright and cheery flower that you can grow in your garden making you happy at all times.

- I always had them in my garden, but somehow they've disappeared last year. Have to get them back. I just love them, because they'll cover ugly things.
