3 things you should know about Naturally Healthy Desserts

I love to eat desserts. Somedays I'd like to skip the main course and just go to the desserts. When I was young I could do this but now since I'm older, wiser and uh..yeah a few pounds heavier I started a search for naturally delicious HEALTHY DESSERTS.
1. Obviously, one reason would be because they are healthy and low calorie. But for me it just means I could eat a HEALTHY DESSERT and not have that sense of guilt after I've eaten something so decadent.

I have tried the so called low-fat desserts and I end up eating more than what the serving should be. In fact I've been known to eat a whole box of low-fat cookies only to read the box and see how many calories and salt that was contained in them and weep!

2. Sometimes people have special diets,i.e. gluten free, diabetic, etc. My husband is diabetic and I have to be very careful about sweeteners or anything that will raise his blood sugar level.

3. Raising young children up on HEALTHY DESSERTS is an excellent way of helping them to be healthy when they grow up avoiding heart disease, weight problems, diabetes, etc. In 2007 over 168,000 people under the age of 20 was diagnosed with diabetes. This alone should perk our ears up as mothers and grandmothers to avoid these pitfalls.

Vitamix, the only way I would ever go!

Helps with the preparation of your desserts

I have the older model and I use it everyday. Mine takes 7 minutes to grind wheat for bread, which is wonderful! But if I'm understanding this right, this one only takes a minute. I make ice cream and frozen yogurt all the time! Yum!

One more reason to eat naturally healthy desserts!

They are sooo good!

4. Sometime people or even children don't care for fruit by itself but with the fruit being in the dessert they will eat it. Fruits are high in vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
Try this recipe. One of my favorites!
July Crisp

4 cups blueberries
1 cup minute quick oats
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup pecans

Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon. add butter and blend. Add oats and nuts. Mix about 1/4 of crumb mixture with blueberries. Place in buttered dish. Cover with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-40 minutes. Serve hot or cold. It's delicious with ice cream! Yum!

Try this recipe for a totally delicious and HEALTHY DESSERT!
